MiSTerAddons MiSTercade - MiSTer for JAMMA cabinets

I just got a mistercade v2 this weekend and its been working great. My only complaint is that I am getting a lot of white noise coming from the board. does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? I know its not my cab cause other jamma boards i have dont have this issue.
You mean like snow back in the day when the tv wasn’t tuned in?

Not the screen the speakers. sorry I should have clarified. I can hear it when games are running, when games aren't running there's always fuzz coming from the speakers. other jamma i have boards aren't as loud. Just wondering if there is a way to fix it.

Not sure sorry. I’m assuming it’s though JAMMA audio and not the RCAs. Maybe something to do with EM interference affecting the Mistercade amp or circuitry that doesn’t affect typical PCBs. Have you tried moving it around in the cab or setting up with it hanging out of the cab as far as possible and seeing if the “noise” comes and goes.

Just got a used mistercade v1.3 setup from a friend. Got the correct v1 .ini and video/audio are working great, games load properly. I’ve got a weird issue where button 1 isn’t registering (not a wiring issue as it works fine on my MVS). I found the same complaint on the misterfpga forum but no answer. Edit: egret 2

I didn't manage to fix it. I tried many times to speak with misteraddons and we didn't manage to help but he did offered to send it back to him so he can replace the right chip so it will work. the problem was that when I got it I pluged it reversly to the jamma so I probably burned the GND of buttons one (he got the wrong voltage) so maybe It happened to you also. eventually I prefered Buying a new one discounted.

Thanks for the feedback. Since I got it used, it’s entirely possible.

Ran update_all just now (which also kicks off the mistercade controls mapping update script for me) and i couldn't select anything in the mister main menu anymore with buttons on my astro CP. After remapping mister main the menu shortcut broke (down+start for me).

Incase this happened to anyone else - To fix, after you re-map controls in mister main, re-do the below fix (download the mapping for the menu shortcut you want, unzip and copy the file over to the right folder as explained below)

You can't bind the MiSTercade Menu control shortcut in "Define Joystick and Buttons" - the shortcut is determined by the mapping file you use.

For MiSTercade V1, if you want to use Down + Start as the Menu shortcut, download this ZIP file and extract the contents into the "inputs" folder on your SD card, overwriting existing files:
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_down+start=menu.zip

Other Menu control shortcut options include:
- Button 1 + Button 6
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_b1+b6=menu.zip

- Button 3 + Button 5
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_b3+b5=menu.zip

- Start + Coin
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_coin+start=menu.zip

- Down + Coin
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_down+coin=menu.zip

- Menu Shortcut Disabled
https://github.com/misteraddons/MiSTercadeV1/blob/main/config/inputs/_main_mapping_no_menu.zip

I think i'm going to set this bloody file to read only now - /media/fat/config/inputs/ input_16D0_10BE_v3.map

chmod oug+r-wx /media/fat/config/inputs/ input_16D0_10BE_v3.map

(let this post here be a reference for future me and anyone else on which file being changed breaks the down+start menu mapping)

this just happened again, thanks past me

Hi! I can’t make autofire to work on my v1+remote. I’ve tried holding a button then pressing the menu button on the remote, but all it does is opening the actual menu.

Any ideas? TBH not sure if mistercade or general mister related.

Also worth mentioning that I have vague memories of somehow disabling autofire in the past (years ago when I purchased it). However the disable_autofire option in the mister.ini file was not present, and even if I force it to “0”, it doesn’t change anything.

Does it work if you hold the action button and press the Menu button on the MiSTer itself instead of the remote?

I think I tried with the same result (will double check tonight), but for sure it did not work with a wireless keyboard (using it’s dedicated dongle, not BT) either.

It happened to me also when I played donpachi on the mister
What I did is :
Got into the service menu (you just need to activate the game first and then on the osd you will have the service menu option in most cores if not all) and the you can enable auto fire.
I guess the default sometimes is that it’s off so you need to turn it on.

I did more testing and managed to make it work, however only if I enable the option to open the OSD menu via key combinations (I tried Down+start combo by using a map file I found in some zip files I downloaded back in the day for different options to open the menu via key combos like Down+Start, Start+Coin…) this way autofire enables fine, but only via the combo, not by using the menu button (neither in the remote not the mistercade board). Any ideas why it won’t work via the dedicated button?

Thanks! Bur that is a core specific option (which is the best IMO, but only when it exists), in this case I mean the option at Mister level which can be used with any game.

My mistercade v2.2 with the remote arrived couple days ago and it's really cool. Only problem I'm having with it is that the coin buttons on the remote don't seem to register in any core. Even in the remap screen, it doesn't register and I end up using the pause button on the remote instead to map coin. Has anyone had a similar situation? Inserting a coin doesn't work either. My jamma passthrough has a debugger that lights up when it detects a button press and the remote coin button makes it light up so I'm lead to think it's an issue with the mister. I'm using the standard mappings btw.

On another note the menu button also seems to cancel out of control mapping instead of skipping the next input which is OK since the down+start mapping exists and works correctly.

Can I connect all 8 buttons through these connectors or only buttons 7 and 8?

I bought two of these from Arcade Shock.
