What's new
I also had some issues with a MK2 board recently.
Sound worked, but after a few minutes of play the sound dropped and the LED on the sound board turned OFF, after a power cycle everything worked fine.

Send it out to my repair guy the board turned out to have multiple issues or things that could cause issues:
- Power cable re-crimped and fixed for some loose contacts on it
- 1 Sound rom was bad, so he burned a new rom and replaced it
- Sound caps where also not all 100%, so these are changed as a precaution.

So if you have the possibility to test or roms or have them tested, that would be a good start I would say :)

Update:

The sound board in question was completely dead. It might have been the sound amp or warping. It wasn't the roms as new ones were burnt and the board still failed.

Instead, I managed to get my hands on a cheap NBA JAM sound board and changed the roms on that. I now have an extra MK1 if anyone is interested! :)
