Grand Master
There are tons of great restoration threads out there, but I wanted to share a quick and complete parts list of everything I used (and some other things that were suggested elsewhere) to upgrade my cabinet. I didn't use any existing wiring or equipment in the cab, I just connect the monitor and controls directly to my PC or console and power it all with an internal power strip. General resources include @Cereth or @GeekMan1222 to buy Vewlix cabinets or one of the sellers on Facebook like Chino Chan for Chewlixes. Taito Vewlix/Chewlix Owners Group and Vewlix / Chewlix Fans are good groups, the first has a bunch of useful files, like marquee and sub-panel templates for laser cutting.
Parts list:
Audio (Monitor 3.5mm aux out into cheap amplifier)
The one thing I haven't nailed down yet is move strip artwork that goes above and below the monitor (between the speakers). I've seen a seller on Facebook that sells art printed on large magnets, which seem cool. Anyone print their own or have these printed before?
Happy to answer questions! If anyone has alternate suggestions or other parts they like, feel free to post them here.
Parts list:
Audio (Monitor 3.5mm aux out into cheap amplifier)
- 18AWG Speaker Wire
- Amplifier Board
- 12V Power Supply
- (4x) 8 ohm speakers
- Amazon Basics 3.5mm cable
- 0.205", Red 22-18 Gauge Quick Disconnects - have to crush these terminals down a little to fit snugly. (I haven't tried these, but 4.8mm connectors might be the right fit.)
- 0.110", Red 22-18 Gauge Quick Disconnects
- Wago 221-413 LEVER-NUTS 3 Conductor Compact Connectors 10 PK - these were great, but any wire nut or connection method should work
- iCrimp Ratcheting Crimping Tool Set - crimping has been historically difficult for me, but I think I figured it out with some practice. Seems like a good kit, saw it recommended here.
- LG32GN650 Monitor
- Vewlix options
- Chewlix
- 5/16 in. x 1/4 in. x 17 ft. Black EPDM Cellular Rubber Weatherstrip Tape - thin foam, sounds like a good fit for a Chewlix if padding is necessary
- VESA Mounting Kit - optional, sounds like it works well for Chewlixes.
- HDMI Cable
- Display Port Cable
- Power Strip
