Hello everyone, I have decided to do this thread because there’s not that much information on the many different types of Namco JVS I/O boards, especially some with some high res pics. I will continue to update this thread as much as I can but I also strongly encourage others to post high resolution pics and correct any information so we can keep this “unofficial” list up to date. I will start with some Namco I/O boards that I have collected and taken pictures of. Hope others would like to help out and like this idea. Maybe hopefully get it pinned for future reference for newcomers, collectors, and arcade operators. ;)
Edit: if possible, I will try to include the schematic diagram for each I/O pcb.

Namco V185/V291 Gun I/O pcb
Used only for Time Crisis 2 (Namco System 23/Super 23) and Time Crisis 3 (CRT Ver.)(Namco System 246) supports only 1 player. Pin outs for P1 and P2 down below.

Namco V221 MIU I/O PCB (Crisis Zone Variant)
Used for Crisis Zone (Namco System Super 23 Evolution 2) and is compatible with Time Crisis 3 (Namco System 246). CCD camera setup. Not cross compatible with Vampire Night. Supports 1 Player.

Namco V221 TMIU I/O PCB (V221 “Vampire Night”Variant)
MIU variant pcb used only for Vampire Night (Namco System 246). Not cross compatible with Crisis Zone or Time Crisis 3. Supports 2 players.

Namco Rays I/O PCB
Fully compatible with 3 Namco CCD camera gun games: Vampire Night, Time Crisis 3, and Crisis Zone. Supports 1 and 2 players. This pcb also has several revisions although most of them look identical to this one. A second revision was released that fixed the heating issues of version 1. Credit for the Ver.2 picture goes to @bobbydilley

Namco V329 NA-JV I/O “Multipurpose” pcb (Time Crisis 4 variant)
This is the Time Crisis 4 (Namco System Super 256) variant of the NA-JV multipurpose I/O pcb.
Other variants exist that has the missing transistors soldered on. This PCB, just like the FCA PCB was used for Fighting,Driving,Touch screen, and IR sensor gun games.

Namco FCA I/O “multipurpose” PCB V.1
this is the early version of the FCA I/O pcb. Many Namco arcade games have used this pcb, from driving/racing games to IR gun games and Touch screen games. This one came from Ridge Racer V: Arcade battle (Namco System 246).

This is the Namco system 246 JAMMA (B) I/O pcb that came bundled with the Namco System 246 and 256. There are slight revisions of the I/O boards but they all do the same thing. Has an onboard audio amp as well was video output through the JAMMA edge connector. Also has output through the JAMMA edge connector (mono) or the 4 pin connector which supports stereo output. Has a 10 pin JAMMA (+) kick harness output for additional buttons that are left out on the JAMMA edge connector.

Oh, the little “s-video” type looking connector? It does not do or connect to anything. It’s just there.

it does catch my interest though - so do unfitted parts.
i see the only difference on the v221 other than the eprom is a connector and a couple of power transistors for driving solenoids or lamps or something.
so those are upgradeable!

the 246 jamma - you can see them fixing mistakes across the 3 versions!
first to second they removed the rgb filters and buffered what is probably the sync signal.
second to third they added another buffer in the same area - not sure where it connects.

are there known sync issues with the v0 board??

It think it should be possible to convert a V221 MIU pcb to a V221 TMIU pcb by changing the eprom, soldering the missing fuses, pin connector and transistors on J6,and changing the Altera PLD chip. Probably unsolder it and solder a socket. The PLD chips are different an both I/O boards. The PCB doesn’t drive solenoids as the 24v transistor is not on present. J6 is soldered on the TMIU pcb because player 2’s IR led is used. Not necessarily used for Crisis Zone and TC3.Another option is to just use a Rays PCB.

I didn’t even know that there were different revisions of the JAMMA pcb until I inspected all of them closely. I didn’t correctly put them in order because I’m not sure which came first. V.3 (probably a very early version) is the first I/O pcb I had and it’s the worst one of the bunch, the sync is bad. There might be more revisions that I’m unaware of.
 
your v3 has bad sync because FL4 filter is missing probably, if fixing that wont help then replace ic11

I’m pretty sure the problem was with IC11, I’m not going to fix it because the audio amp is also dead, has a crack in the middle. I don’t use the JAMMA video or audio. Every other function still works though.
