Hello guys,
Im trying to consoling my Tekken 3, as always i will use only 5v power since 12v is needed for sound AMP.
But on Namco System 12 its will stuck on JVS screen test, loop test.
Checking JVS power connector on board we have only this pins:

1 - 2 - 3
4 - 5 - 6

NC - NC - 5V
GND - GND - GND

So its can be powered with only 5v but need USB JVS connected ?

Bonus question :-)
I got this power supply with 12v and 5v on two separated channel:
So its have 1GND for 12v and 1GND for 5v.
Since on jamma we have only 1 channel so 1GND in common for both 12v and 5v if i use it will short the two power supply channel and it pop ? ?(

Hi! JVS Power connector:)

1 2 3
4 5 6

1= KEY
2= 3.3V
3= 5V
4= GND
5= GND
6= GND
yes but 3.3v pin2 seems not connected on System12
Can anyone with a JVS adapter try a System 12 board with and without a USB pad port?
The question is, can a system 12 boot normal with a JVS power connector and jamma for input or need also USB jvs

If you’re using JVS, nothing from the JAMMA side is used and vise versa, the only thing you’ll get from both is the VGA and RCA video and audio.

You still need to have a JVS I/O connected to the system or else you’ll get a JVS MASTER not found error

In other word, you can’t use Jamma and/or JVS for power at the same time

In any case, a Namco System 12 not connecting in JVS mode and not expanding its video output options is heresy today .😓

It's like playing PlayStation Premiere or Sega Saturn in RCA composite video. :thumbdown:

Thanks that what i think, if i use only 5v i need also jvs I/O
But if i use 5v and 12v i can use RCA audio from JVS

do you think, can i connect VGA JST to my OSSC directly ?
I got a bad image with Jassifier too much brightness, image with ghost.
I didn't take a photo sorry

Its work nice with jamma RGBS on GBSC

Yes, you can connect it directly to your OSSC

It work but something seems really wrong to me on brightness.
But no problem with GBSC its work better.

I’ve always used the OSSC for my pre HD Namco arcade boards and the results were pretty good

You do need to tweak the settings on the OSSC and game board and save your profile on the OSSC

The Namco System 12 has awful video output. The main problem I’ve experienced with my boards is that when I adjust the brightness in the service menu, interference starts to appear, and vice versa. As has been advised many times, the fault is usually within the capacitors. I can’t confirm that myself because I haven’t recapped any of my boards, but I’ve literally never come across a board that had no video issues—in other words, a clean picture.

I did recap all my boards years ago but they all were ok, Tekken 3 was the one with the worst picture via the VGA ports but looks great from the JAMMA RGB

Did a recap and its working, i didn't know that i can change contrast and gain on service :-D I put on 0 RGB gain, and its showing fine.

I can also attest to video looking cleaner from the Jamma edge over the VGA ports.

On a CRT in-game it’s far from a deal breaker. Through an upscaler though you can see the difference. I should take some raw captures one day to compare.

Best to tell is there any problems with picture in Tekken 3 is when attract mode ends and Tekken 3 logo pops up

Well adding the scanline filter on a camera shot will filter out of the aforementioned artifacts.

And yes, the high brightness of the Tekken 3 logo transition can show the artifacts for a moment. To make matters more interesting I do have more than one Tekken 3 board and they exhibit different artifact patterns during the logo flash.

This picture quality “issue” is more of an anecdotal one that comes with analog video. Even a normal PS1 through RGB scart shows some artifacts when held under scrutiny.

Turning down the gain to mitigate these issues is a win in my book. Those results speak for themselves.
