I can definitely confirm the above. Just yesterday, I found it levitating and vomiting green slime. It also seems prone to playing the missing sound effects (on loop) whilst sitting in a Corstat box.
Not quite sure if I should call an exorcist or The Ghostbusters

Based on the shared info I would have thought it would have been better to use a 27C040 (ie. quadruple the image) to eliminate both pin 30 and 31 floating.

If you look at the picture on the dentsubo site you can see the marking 23c4xxx, this is most likely 23c4000 which is a MASK ROM. The equivalent EPROM is a 27C040

I'm sorry to necro this thread.
My friend picked up an original Valkyrie PCB that's considered the "Old Version" but with a interesting fix. They mentioned the seller had attached something onto the original VOI2 socket to allow full audio playback as intended like the "New Version". I didn't know what they meant until I saw the PCB. I've attached some images to show what was added onto the VOI2 socket and thought it was interesting to share.

You're correct. The game is exactly the same regardless of version (MAME and Arcade Archives are both using New Ver iirc). Same enemy placement and various glitches can be done (i.e. several skips and invincibility at the last boss).
