Nanao MS8 buzzing sound

This is the best dual freq chassis ever made by Nanao, it Is a rare variant of ms8 29 which come with the same rgb amp ic of the ms9, it has the same easy color and withe balance of the ms9 but it is alltheway sharper like any ms8, the noise is just hv leakage most likely from the anode cap, verify that and if it is the case go to replace the anode cap and metal clip. If it comes from the flyback (I do not beleave) you can cure by apply "super corona dope" Coating.
Wow!! I didn’t know it was a rare variant of the MS8! It certainly looks amazing when it works well, probably better than anything else I’ve seen despite the tube having a decent amount of burn in.

The noise was finally fixed. It was a magnet that fell off from the yoke (check this video). I managed to put it back and the noise and convergence issues went away.

The problem I have now is that the monitor won’t power on, as per my last post. It tries to start, but then there’s a “click” noise and powers itself off doing the characteristic static electricity noise.

I’ll most likely send the chassis back for repair on Monday, but if anyone has any clues of what might be going on, they’ll be super welcome.

Thanks for all the help!

That is unfortunate! I am sorry to hear you have problems again. It sounds like a high-voltage shutdown to me. It is likely a component in the high voltage area, or one of the IC chips like the HOT failing. It will most likely require servicing/repair again.

Finally good news! I sent the chassis back for repair again. The tech guy told me that the vertical IC had exploded, likely due to the remote touching some metal part… which I pretty much think it’s what happened. Despite likely being my fault, he refused to accept any payment as he always offers 30 day warranty, so props to this guy.

To summarise the issues I had and their solution:

- Buzzing noise: metal part fell from the yoke. Solution: stick it back into place.
- Red colours during first 3-4 minutes: leaking capacitor in the little board next to the color bias potentiometers. Solution: replace capacitors, IC and potentiometer.
- No image: vertical IC exploded likely to the remote touching some metal part. Solution: replace.

Despite the tube’s burn in, the monitor looks better than ever :D

Hope this helps anyone in the future!

In order to fix the green bleed to the right you need to replace the mitsubishi RGB amp ic, the one on the little pcb placed under the cut off trimmer pot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have no idea what caused this, but it hasn’t happened again since.
