Naomi 1 set up via OSSC/Capcom IO board

Pin 9 on the Naomi's VGA out will provide 5v. It's meant for amplifying the video output if necessary. It shouldn't short anything AFAIK.

Unfortunately the engineer might be wrong this time, I have run Naomi 1 using a VGA cable on an LCD AOC monitor. Runs fine.

Maybe yes, maybe no.

[Repair Log] Sega Naomi

My naomi original cables was without pin 9.

There's a motive for it, don't?

ok, so the assumption is it is completely unnecessary and it won't make a difference on some monitors but will on others. I have mostly consumer TVs and PC monitors with VGA input. I actually connected a naomi to a blast city nanao 2930 and didn't get 31hz working so I'm curious if this had anything to do with it.

edit: i read that thread and I'm still confused. Is there any good reason to keep that pin in the connector? And did i maybe fry my naomi using a regular vga cable to connect a nanao 2930 to a naomi?

Whelp here I am pulling pins from cables. Don’t forget to label shit kids. I just labeled the heck out of my Capcom I/o too. Label everything.

I'll have time later to give it a shot. I'll try a blast city cab and a crappy lcd tv i have in the same room.

anyone know if i should be able to run 31hz through the jamma edge on a nanao 2930 using a capcom I/O? Or do I need to go straight from the naomi into the db15 connector on the monitor, now of course with pin 9 out of the equation on the cable. I have 2 naomis, so if I fried one I can try the other. Hopefully i didn't fry it though because it was a 2 and i eventually want to hook up a wheel and pedals for some initial D. I even got card readers and new cards so need to figure out how to connect that crap too. should be fun.

There's a switch on Capcom I/O, but you can do directly from Naomi too.
holy crap i didn't see those dips on the capcom i/o. one has csync or h/v sync. the other has 4p 4 shot or 2p 6 shot. that must be for the cps2 kick harness. cool stuff, learn something new every day. time for more labels. Also has a test button. Is that the same as hitting test on the jamma?

I'm a little confused now because in the past i hooked this thing up to my supergun/pvm setup and that switch was on h/v sync but I just run rgbs from my supergun to my pvms. it worked though. so i guess you only need HV if you monitor absolutely needs separate H and V or if you are running 31hz. i've been doing this shit for years and still get confused with this stuff.

now i might as well complete this labeling. what is the connector to the left of the JVS USB?

I have an ossc I can test with too if anyone is curious about that. I'll post my complete setup with pictures, might help someone in the future. hell i might as well try all of this:

Naomi to supergun setup to PVM via capcom I/O 15hz
Naomi to Blast City cab, video direct to nanao 2930 using vga cable with no 9 pin and controls/audio through capcom I/O. Can try 15hz and 31hz
Naomi vga to OSSC to crappy LCD HDMI input 31hz
Naomi direct to VGA input on crappy LCD using vga cable with no 9 pin 31hz

Also have a toro and a framemeister if I want to get stupid.

Also have this annotator/scaler if I want to get retarded:
https://www.extron.com/product/annotator

I'm assuming this thing will take the input through de15. the one I have has DVI-D output where the one in their picture just has a blank plate there. So far I've just connected 1080p crap like a ps4 and a PC. I intend to try something composite and s-video to check out the upscaling and see how it performs. even if it is crap, the annotator function is fun. passing 1080p through it looks great and doesn't seem to add much lag. Gives me an excuse to test this thing with something lower res. Looks like input 3 is a beast and accepts all sorts of things. This is the web interface for the annotator. Extron units with a web interface are great.

First test. Vga cable missing pin 9 to dynex tv. Video works, so thankfully I have not ruined my Naomi, at least it appears ok. Connected pi and the Naomi to a little network switch and I tried loading a game using the pi force web or whatever it is called. It just gets stuck loading so I’m not sure what is wrong. I might need to do some configuration but I think I’m close. Would be really cool to see a game boot on this thing.
