NBA Jam to TE

So, I bought this NBA Jam board thinking it was fully stock and the original game, but someone definitely modified something.

When I play as the Magic w/ Shaq the announcer keeps calling him Raiden, and i have the GET THAT *** out of here! sound fx. this is the first time i've been able ot play the board and i've had it for a few months, but i have no idea what was changed. Jordan isn't on here thats for sure. Any possible ideas?
Dump the ROMs!!!!

You can then compare them to figure out which ones they are, and MAYBE you have an unDumped version!

i don't have a chip reader yet, i'm going to order one and try Asure's NBA Jam Rewind hack. the issue I am having is the 10-15 minutes needed to erase roms, the video i saw guy had something that did it in 10 seconds or less but i can't find any info on it.

If you want, someone here can dump them all and re-program them for you.

do you know anyone who can do it with a reasonably quick turnaround? I got a friend flying in on the 27th and I'd like to have it done by then if possible. Do I send them the full board or pull the chips myself?

Wait. Where's the info about this?

I didn't realize this had been released either I thought it was still private.

You don't want to erase the ROMs you have on there you'll want to buy new ROM and program those. That way you don't lose the data that's on there. Even if they're dumped they're not good dumps until they're tested and that can take time

You can order new pre programmed ROMs from several places like buyicnow or hobbyroms.

First thing you should do is take pictures of your board that are clear enough for us to read the labels.

want me to bring it to you in person and you can dump the roms n such? depending how far in nh it wont be that long of a drive. i will look at those websites and see if i can find a set.

That's correct, this will turn your normal NBA Jam into Rewind (which is based on Nba Jam TE). You'll need to update all the sound board roms too.

There's a whole topic stickied here: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/nba-rewind-4-jam-was-nba-jam-te-hacking.26349/

The last person in that topic must have done something wrong, or used wrong roms etc.
The set you provided works great, however the U12, U13, and U3 ROM files are empty. I used the original Rewind set ROMs in the sound board to make it work.

Wrong roms on the soundboard perhaps?
This was the correct guess. The sound board had original TE ROMs in it, which is why wrong sounds were playing.

I thought I had enough EPROMs to burn myself, but alas... Is there someone out there willing to burn a complete working set for my NBA Jam PCB? Will pay well for your service. PM me if interested.

Thanks for testing it out! (That's what i need testers for!)

Can you share what board you converted from?

I'm a but short in time, but i will fix up the set with the correct roms asap. I thought i used the tools/patches correctly and had rewind create a set with 'get that sh1t outta here' but it seems to have made blank files for some reason.

This was an original NBA Jam with the "L3" program ROMs. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the PCB or write down the board revision. if you need that you'll have to ask @sLpFhaWK

yeah we were scratching our heads as to why sound wasn't working then I attempted re-verifying the ROMs and happened to check the buffer only to see all 00s.

I happened to have built a normal Rewind set for my Jam TE a few months back so had all of the sound ROMs already patched for that so was able to use that to get it going.

the U3 sound ROM is unchanged from Midway's original Jam TE set so it's really only U12 and U13 that need to be patched.
