Hey guys, finally going to go for it since I have the space for it now and looking to aim to get a Vewlix(or Chewlix) and will be wandering through out the forums, I'll have tons of questions but I'm hoping to hang out with you guys and talk about arcade specs like how them car folks talk about them cars

I'm based in LA. Let's smash some fingers

Welcome to the community!
I'm totally biased and just bought 4, but for the price I'd recommend checking out the Sega PRas3's that are coming in right now over the Vewlix. I think they're a fantastic deal.
Here's the owners thread: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/sega-all-net-p-ras-multi-arcade-cabinet-owners-thread.16042/

If you're interested I'd check with KC if he has a couple left.

Advantages over the Chewlix/Vewlix:
- Shorter overall if you remove the giant top marquee
- Comes with a SEGA ALLS board: mid-tier PC arcade board w/ i5-6500, GTX1070, 16GB Ram (will run everything 1080p 60fps np)
- Simple HDD swap to run your own Windows 10/Linux build and emulators on it
- 1080p LCD with 10-point multi touchscreen - comes in super handy for navigation
- AIME card reader
- RGB LED blinged out side panels and underside
- Built in Headphone Jack, Phone Charging port, & front side Gamepad USB port
- Much newer cabinets, likely less wear and tear and likely to have ~2000 plays when you receive it
- Much newer electronic components inside, and my friends and I LOVE the joysticks/buttons that come stock
- Much more feature rich & affordable if you can repurpose the ALLS board as a PC
- Personal preference and nothing scientific behind it, but the image quality seems to "pop" to me

Both:
- Zero input lag, we were playing 3s on this thing via Fightcade and the parrys flowed like wine.

Disadvantages over the Chewlix/Vewlix:
- PRas control panel sits taller, so use bar stools or adjustable Taito bench (better for 6ft+ folks though, more legroom)
- Less of a community as the PRas3 is only a couple years old
- PRas side panels tend to get scratched more easily than Vewlix
- Only 1p control panel available, you'd need 2 cabinets to wire them together
- BIOS firmware lockout means the ALLS board can't be firmware upgraded to accept the I7-7700k (maybe someone finds a way in the future?)
- Cannot mount the screen portrait for schmups. Vewlix can. Chewlix appears to need custom brackets: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/chewlix-tate-brackets.17875/ (Thx VxD)

Hope that piques your interest, go check them out. Either way, welcome to the AP fam!

As cool as that sounds; it even sounds more expensive! Do they already come with the PCs? The vewlix I was eyeing doens't even come with anything and I might get a TTX3 to go with it.

which part of socal are you located?

Cab ownership (esp a candy cab) is IMO the height of the hobby.
Playing PCBs on a TV with a Supergun is great (better than MAME/Mister for sure)...
As fantastic as that can be, it still can't compare to coin dropping into your own machine with friends.

I have two Vewlix Blue Diamonds, and I'm rather fond of them.

But I don't know that I would bother going the 'authentic' Vewlix route again. I like the PRas3 cabs, I'm a Sega cab fan, but it does kinda bug me how tall they are. Just in terms of fitting in with all my other cabs. That said, they're very interesting. I wouldn't dismiss them at all.

+1 for Aurich - Have you gotten to sit at one yet by chance Aurich? If so, what was your impression? They are a bit high but I find it quite comfortable with the stools I'm using. Probably ideal with the Taito adjustable bench though. I totally hear what you're saying about the height next to your other cabs in your beautiful arcade. Gutter Trash Arcade looks enviously perfect as is and is an inspiration to guys like me.

@DJKin
Vewlix's are great and were a dream cab of mine since SF4's arcade release. Loved playing on them in Japanese/Socal arcades, at shows, and in folks home setups.

You can't go wrong with a Vewlix, it's the proven gold standard. If it's a dream cab for you the premium could be worth it.

I was a new buyer looking for something more modern earlier this year and found the PRas3's a better deal at the moment. Here are the latest prices from KC for Vewlixs in stock -

L $1,200
F $1,400
C $1,600
VS $2,500
Orange diamond $3,000
Chewlix $1,200

I was lucky enough to lock in the PRas3's price early (before shipping became a nightmare) for $1400/ea with the ALLs UX board, worth about $700 to resale on it's own. This is compared to the price of a Vewlix F without a board. Prices may be higher now due to shipping, freight has been really nasty the past few months. Guessing the same deal would be $1600/ea with the ALLs UX board, which is the price of a Vewlix C without a board. Or a Chewlix + $400... and the 1070GTX within the ALLS UX resells for nearly $400 by itself because graphics cards are so stupidly expensive right now. I think with a PC that can run, basically turnkey... ready to go, it's a great deal. Especially for someone's first cab, it's an option worth checking out. Plus I'd love to see the community grow around these cabs because I think they're really well made cabs (if not a bit weird looking at first) in a long line of Sega cabs.

If I could get a few Vewlix's for that adjusted price ($700 - $900/ea without board /dream) I'd be all over a few of them too XD

You will most likely have to acquire a two player panel and wire it
Its never been easier to do this...

Two different reproduction panel makers @Rbtamanini and @alberto1225
I've got the Rb C repo...

Then you have @Lemony Vengeance who makes affordable 2p (K only, you need to keep the existing J) harnesses.

Not like in 2015, when you had to drop 600$+ to Taito direct (only available in three colors red, blue, gray).
At least it came complete (ie populated with buttons/sticks, harnessed with manual).

Yo that looks nice! Does that also work with a Chewlix? Cause I'm looking to build a 2P cabinet and save room on having a linked system

The legit panel will be slightly off on a chewlix, but it’ll work in a pinch :).

Provided I can verify that the connectors are what I believe they are in the chewlix (pics are great!) I can make you a CHEWLIX-specific player 2 harness as well (I have one I can duplicate :) )

And thank you for the mention @jassin000. I really appreciate it. I’m sorry I was such a tool all those years ago. Age and time make you realize a lot of idiotic things in the past were just that, idiotic.

Don't go for a pras3, because I want some and if you get them then there is less in the world for me :)

I own a chewlix. It's a great cab with a little work. Bought mine gutted and outfitted it with an LCD and just use it for consoles atm. At some point might out fit it with jamma option. It was $400 stripped down at the time. Not sure what they go for now. That doesn't include shipping.

So KC has a 2 player chewlix cab with a jamma board. If I were to pick that up what would I need to do make it work with a TTX3 or even a PC? What should I be looking for to purchase?
