The other day I was testing/configuring my mame setup. When switching from one game to another my chassis always makes a click sound. I assume that's because the resolution changes, this time when i changed the game the screen dimmed slightly then returned to normal. I tried one more game the screen went black and did not return. I turned off the machine and tried to plug in a regular pcb and I got the same issue. I have neck glow, the monitor still clicks when powered on but no light or static on the screen.
Does anyone have some basic troubleshooting steps I can do and Is it safe/good for the monitor to switch resolutions on the fly like that.
