So far, I haven't had much chance to work on Zorch or the case design. I've been overwhelmed by sudden health issues in the family (none, thankfully, related to COVID-19, but I do live in the US, where masks appear stupidly optional, so that remains on the table.)
I have some rather uninformed questions about sticking multiple PCBs on the same JAMMA bus, but these will have to wait until I can do some more reading (I am really that far behind).
I'm beginning to realize some things, though. The MiSTer FPGA solution could resolve a ton of issues for me regarding accommodating many more types of arcade PCBs in a single space, more than I would ever have space or money for. I'm wondering if this makes so much more sense that I'm being foolish even pursuing the Neo Geo/CPS-2 board sets I'd like to collect, given my poverty of space.
Fortunately, this is a decision which can wait until later, after I've received my first Arcade PCB, a CPS-2 A and B board. (It's D&D! Probably one of two planned for this enclosure.) There's nothing that says I can collect—say—two PCBs and stick an FPGA in there and switch between JAMMA and the DE-10 or whatever.
I've been noodling block diagrams for Zorch, but this is an uninformed exercise.
I also seem to be getting lost in the weeds of deciding to study some power supply issues. I have an unrelated project which will benefit from this—repairing a Cherokee PS for an Octane2, but it is competing for my attention.
