Raspberry Pi TO JAMMA Arcade Cabinet Interface

Love miine. Loved it so much that I ordered two more from Crown Arcade shop, trouble is when UPS turned up at my house they wanted $244 in 'fees' for tariffs so I told the guy I wouldn't pay it. UPS walked off with my two boards so I guess I'm out of luck, how that isn't theft I don't know.
The package is gonna go back to the seller and he may potentially be paying those fees instead :(

Welcome to what we've been getting outside of the US for years.
UPS should *always* be avoided.
Yeah I had no choice, only shipping option was Korea Post which was $19 so that's what I chose. Unless there's a way to buy these inside the US now I wont be able to purchase any more for what is essentially a 200% fee on top.

Weird thing was I also just received a MisterPi from Taki Udon and paid zero tariffs on it - what a mess.

Hi all! Having trouble getting this board to work with my jamma cabinet. Has anyone had luck getting the coin lines working? When I hold the switch down for coin lines the bulbs then on. Using standard unmodified jamma connector. Marvel vs capcom big blue cabinet.

Has anyone been able to get Recalbox work with this JAMMA interface?

I'm running a Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB) and Recalbox 9.2.3-Pulstar on a New Astro City.

I can get video, no problem, by selecting RGBPI as the device under the GUI's CRT options. However, I've been unable to get Player 1 or 2 joystick/buttons, which are wired JAMMA, on the cabinet to work.

I've tried a lot of things but here is where I landed (

-Added "controllers.gpio.enabled=1" and "controllers.gpio.args=map=0x20,0x21" to recalbox.conf
-Added "dtparam=i2c_vc=on" to recalbox-user-config.txt
-Added "bcm2708.vc_i2c_override=1" to /boot/cmdline.txt
-Added "i2c-dev" to modules.conf

Running i2cdetect -y 0 shows the table correctly with 20 and 21 appearing.

I even tried compiling the newest "mk_arcade_joystick_rpi" v1.10 GPIO driver from May of this year and replacing the resulting mk_arcade_joystick_rpi.ko with the one that comes with this release of Recalbox.

With the above changes I get video but still no controls.

Any tips appreciated!

get the recallbox jamma 2 ... it's made for it!

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with RGB-Pi OS.
Sometimes, when I turn on my cab, the player 1 physical controls become mapped to the player 2 and vice versa.
I've tried going to the controls settings but there's no way to change the buttons assignment (Joy 1 to Joystick 0 instead of Joystick 1) .
I don't know if its a hardware issue, wiring issue, software issue or what.

Not sure if this is similar or not, but with the MisterCade, if you press a button while it's booting up, then that controller becomes default player 1. I wonder if it's the same deal with the RGB-Pi OS? Are you sure you're not pressing any buttons on the player 2?

Note: With the MisterCade, there's an option in the Menu "Reset player assignment" which swaps it back to be proper controls. I don't think the RGB-Pi OS supports that feature.

MisterCade documentation:

"NOTE: The MiSTer platform resets the controller assignment whenever a new core is loaded. The first input pressed on any controller after a reset assigns that controller to be Player 1. Thus, if you press a Player 2 direction or button on your cab after a core loads, Player 2 will be assigned as Player 1.
You can reset the controls again if necessary, by pulling up the MiSTer Menu, going right one screen, and selecting "Reset player assignment"."

Take it for what it's worth, but I figured I'd mention it if it helps to point you in the right direction with your particular setup.

I just ordered one of these, should see it next week. I would like to run Recalbox as I'm familiar with it, has anyone managed to get it to work?

Yeah, I thought of that and made tests of turning on the cab without touching absolutely nothing.

I also tried pressing buttons / stick of the player 1 side while booting up to see if that helped.
None of it worked, it keeps randomly assigning player 1 buttons to the player 2 side.

Mine showed up today, worked first try on my Samducksa Crowin CWC-203 cab, with an Orion chassis and Samsung monitor. Im pretty happy with it.

I thought of your comment when I saw this tonight. Maybe it will help?

"In some Pi2Jamma setups, you may need to ensure proper grounding by jumpering ground from the JAMMA harness edge connector (pins e/27 or f/28) to the corresponding ground pins on the adapter if controls or video are unstable."

Hello guys, well i have had this adapter for a while now i owned a capcom status cab and it worked fine w but now im trying to put one of this adapters with a rpi4 and rgbpi os4 on it and although it works fine i cant get audi from it.. i dont remember if i had to put an extra ground or +12 or something? i get audio from the 3.5mm jack by the way but not through the jamma. please help!!

Got mine in last week and tried to set it up with a Raspberry Pi 5. Got the fishy electrical smell. Not sure if I fried my board. I unplugged it pretty quick and got a Pi 4 to make things simpler.

My RiddledTV Jamma extension board shows power, but I don't see any LEDs light up or fan spin on the adapter. It looks the adapter has a Jamma LED that should come on, is this right?

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

No idea how to troubleshoot your situation but I can confirm it works with a Pi5.
