Sega Model 3 Step 1 Bass Fishing Question

Hello,

I recently got the fishing rod and control panel for Sega model 3 Step 1 bass fishing (sit down version).

My question is what is this box circled in red in the attached photo of Sega model 3 bass fishing cage/PCB? I attempted to figure it out but could not clearly find Information on it, besides they reference it as a driver unit in the Manuel.

Do I need this unit for the reel to work correctly? There is a PCB for sale that does not have this unit included.

Based on the manual, it's the driver unit. I think it's for the fishing rod.

I will keep looking for a complete PCB with driver unit then.
