Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm interested in the System 1 multi-platform project; what you've done is fantastic. I'm from Buenos Aires, and I'm trying to get two original Sega Choplifter boards working, as they're missing the custom 8751 315-5151 chips. I burned MAME ROMs onto the board, and now I'm getting the message "IC CHECK" on the screen, and then the board shuts down. From what I've researched, it seems that "UNPROTECTED" MAME ROMs don't work on real hardware. Is that possible? Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Thanks a lot.

Muy buenas, soy nuevo en el foro, me intereso lo de la multi de system 1, es genial lo que hicieron, soy de Buenos aires, y estoy intentando hacer funcionar 2 placas choplifter originales de sega, que le faltan los custom 8751 315-5151, resulta que grabe las roms de mame y ahora en pantalla me sale el mensaje "IC CHECK" y luego se apaga, segun estuve investigando es que las roms de mame "UNPROTECTED" no funcionan en harware real, puede ser asi? alguien sabe como solucionarlo? nose si el mensaje va en esta parte del foto. muchas gracias.

Si le falta el custom no te va a arrancar. Lo mejor que puedes hacer es conseguir in 8751 y grabarle el contenido del fichero "315-5151.ic74" que es el que va ahi.

La version unprotected usa estas 3 eproms.
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7152.ic90", 0x00000, 0x8000, CRC(fe49d83e) SHA1(307be38dd73ed37b275c1b464d266a752cb06132) )
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7153.ic91", 0x10000, 0x8000, CRC(48697666) SHA1(0f4c6db9558272f5ceb347e742b284474f18b707) )
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7154.ic92", 0x18000, 0x8000, CRC(56d6222a) SHA1(ad8ccf15fe7f1d6716f78490892da0167d79f67 )

Cambialas y te deberia ir, busca en google. Si no lo encuentras mandame privado.

If the custom chip is missing, it won't boot up. The best thing to do is get an 8751 and program it with the contents of the "315-5151.ic74" file, which is the one that goes there.

The unprotected version uses these 3 EPROMs:
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7152.ic90", 0x00000, 0x8000, CRC(fe49d83e) SHA1(307be38dd73ed37b275c1b464d266a752cb06132) )
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7153.ic91", 0x10000, 0x8000, CRC(48697666) SHA1(0f4c6db9558272f5ceb347e742b284474f18b707) )
ROM_LOAD( "epr-7154.ic92", 0x18000, 0x8000, CRC(56d6222a) SHA1(ad8ccf15fe7f1d6716f78490892da0167d79f67 )

Burn those 3 files in 3 eproms and it should work. Look for those specific files searching on Google. If you can't find them, send me a private message.

Thanks for replying, Dark. The problem is that it's really hard to find an 8751 around here. I thought I could get the game working just by flashing the three "unprotected" EPROMs from the CPU and leaving the 8751 free, or I even read on another forum that you could use a Z80 as a replacement. I tried both methods and neither worked. I'm going to have to get an Intel chip to replace it. My idea is still to turn it into Monster Land, but first I want it to work. I'm just starting out with this stuff, hehe! Cheers!

P.S.: I'm including both languages in case anyone is interested and doesn't know English...sorry.

gracias por contestar dark, el tema es que es muy dificil conseguir un 8751 por estas tierras, crei que se podia hacer funcionar el juego solo grabando las 3 eproms "unprotected" del cpu y dejando libre el 8751, o hasta lei en otro foro de que se puede colocar un z80 de reemplazo, probe ambas formas y ninguna funciona. voy a tener que conseguir un chip intel para reemplazar. mi idea igual es convertirla en monster land, pero primero quiero que funciona, recien inicio en estas cosas, jejeje! saludos!
Pd: coloco ambos idiomas por si a alguien le interesa y no sabe ingles...perdon

It should work with that version. If it doesnt then maybe something else is bad in your PCB. RAM?
