Hi there,

Selling my Segasonic PCB and trackball IO. Since I have sold all of my candy cabs I have no reason to continue hoarding this game.

I acquired this from The Guru in Australia some time ago. He decrypted all the ROMs to run without a suicide battery and built the trackball IO. I am including a spare as a back up in the event you ever need another.

The little control harness is one that I crudely built for use in a 2P Aero City setup that is long gone. I do have an unpopulated 3P trackball control panel for the Sega Swing and can offer a good deal on that if your purchase the PCB.

Looking to get $980 shipped for everything except the Sega Swing panel, but feel free to reach out if you are interested in that as well.

Nice game. I'am also owner of a Segasonic PCB, and I'am very interested in pics of the Sega Swing panel. :)

I can grab that out of storage tonight. It is the reproduction panel and insert by Alberto. These are the pics I received before he shipped to me (I never opened the package):

really!? I was thinking it was crazy what is essentially a conversion sold that high.
Why is it a conversion? Because of the decrypted ROMS? Those stickers look original.

I’ve been looking for one for a bit but keep passing on them because they are around &1k.

I should have grabbed it when it was $400.

They look original but they're not. SegaSonic, like most other System 32 games, uses mostly Mask ROMs with an "MPR-" prefix.
IC8, 9, 17, 18 and 36 should be EPROMs, the rest should be Mask ROMs. While the labels look legit they're not, at least not for SegaSonic. Another dead give away is the same label number is used on multiple ROMs AND they're not even for SegaSonic "EPR-14870A" is Virtua Racing and "EPR-15592" is F1 Super Lap. So I might guess that these labels were stolen off of other Sega games to make them look legit.

It's also missing the original Trackball IO, and it's 100% non-original ROMs. so yeah, if this wasn't a conversion it's had all of the things replaced that would make it original.

Those eprom labels can be easily reproduced. He didnt even do a good job at aligning the numbers.

To decrypt segasonic you need to change the two eproms next to the encryption module. Since they also have perfect intact labels and dodgy alignment is a big giveaway.

Also sega did not use toshiba branded eproms either. I can bet the date stamp preceeds the date the game was manufactured too.

Which comes down to opinions. I've got the PCB and I think its a neat and fun game. I wish I could make the trackball react faster, tho.
I agree. Personally I think its hands down one of the best trackball game next to marble madness. other trackball games arent really worth talking about. if you are just credit feeding and playing to complete the levels then its not going to stimulate you much. Getting all the rings and score is where it shines.

Yup! If you play it "properly" its alot of fun. I like the satisfaction that kicks in, when you get a good ranking on a stage. I wonder if its my trackball, that reacts kinda slow, though.
