SVG Cart Ignoring Button Inputs

I bought this SVG cart on ebay, and something is definitely weird. It's not that the controls are necessarily just laggy. Some of the button presses are being ignored. It's like controller polling is not working right. Very strange. I tested it in three PGM motherboards, and in my MVS cab and on my supergun. In the video you can't see problems with the directions, but the directions are having the same problem too.

I seem to have all the luck with these newer PGM games:

Could this be another security check failure? If so, the failures they programmed in seem so random.

I'm starting to wonder if these newer PGM carts are even worth collecting. The boards and chips are too custom, and the parts seem to fail on their own.

I found something! Not sure if it's related to the problem.

Check out CB30

Does anyone have any suggestions of what to replace this capacitor with? I can't be trusted to desolder the other ones without breaking things. Bridging this one causes the game to not boot.

Looks like a decoupling capacitor to me, probably 100nF.
If that's the case bridging it creates a short between Vcc and ground.
Also that wouldn't be the source of your problem.

Okay, good to know, thanks. Yeah, I figured out it was connected to ground. I replaced it with a cap I got off of a bad Happy 6 in 1 cart I have, and it didn't seem to help anything.

I also recapped the four electrolytic capacitors on the board, but it didn't help.

I am going to give up now unless anyone has any other ideas.

Have you tried a different PGM motherboard?

That's crazy that you'd have missed inputs

Yep. As mentioned in the OP, three motherboards.

Loaded the game up in MAME, and SVG is not a laggy game there.

How about a different cabinet?
Probably not but worth looking into

Now I'm concerned about my own PGM Carts 🤣

I've had a similar problem with a board that wasn't getting solid power, the inputs seemed like they were polling once a second or so, it was incredibly frustrating. It seems less likely since you've tried two PSUs, but maybe check the connections or try a third PSU if you've got one.

Maybe try a Supergun and see if the issue is replicated?

I remember I had issues with the Atomiswave

Buttons were mapped differently on the minigun
But when I used a HAS buttons were mapped properly

If anyone is willing to try and repair this and/or the Martial Masters cart, please let me know. I will pay well if you succeed.

Returned it to the seller. Guess SVG wasn't meant to be. :(
