Taito F3 Multigame

One other thing learned from my nightmarish experience troubleshooting the CPS2 multi (seemed to be a B-board issue). It was damn near impossible to due to the precise swiss made tolerances of the CPS2 multi. Everything was such a tight fit that disassembling to troubleshoot it was next to impossible. I noticed from Mitsurugi-w's proto board that the original design used a ribbon cable to connect smaller board to the bigger mainboard. In the production version, that was replaced with a bridge connector. That bridge connector was a difficult to attach; 10x more difficult to detach. For purposes of ease of installation, hope there is some balance between the need for sturdiness along with easing assembly or disassembly. Be it that is achieved with ribbon connections or modular parts.

Also, I see a nice progression from all the multi's going from jumpers (ST-V), to external LCD selector (CPS2), to rudimentary soft menu (CPS3), and finally to open source soft menu (NeoGeo). I like the security afforded by the soft menu. I also like not needing cab modification for mounting options of external game selectors. For that, just want to reaffirm my preference for the soft menu->write to memory->reload to the same game upon subsequent power cycles->select new game with key CP button sequence->end/repeat.

+1 - Daksoft just keeps getting better & better with the multis.

I just bought a Europe F3 motherboard.

Will this work with the Multicart?

What are the differences from the Japan version?

The only diferences AFAIR it was that small plastic thing that stopped cartridges from different regions inserting properly on the slot. It's just a mechanical measure, so not really a protection if you ask me.

Any mobo should work.

- rubs hands together -

"Excellent"

:D

After further comparison, I see that the Europe boards have the tabs in a different place as the Japan boards.

Curious as to how many regions there are...

Japan
Europe
???

Yaaa!

My Taito F3 motherboard just shipped today from Roma, Italy!

I should have had him send me some tomatoes...

Item description:

Solo PCB, in ottime condizioni, perfettamente funzionante

I'm hoping that says "motherboard only, in optimum condition, working perfectly"

:D

$99 Euro, is that a good price?

I would say no. Simply because you didn't get a cartridge for it. No way of knowing fully if the mobo works until you either get a cart for it, or Darksoft's multi is available.

Italy....ugh. I hope you get it and in working condition. I won't buy anything else on Ebay from Italy. Last transaction I got screwed.

"Oh sorry friend. It worked when I mailed it. Send it back and I'll give you a refund."

The damn shipping back to Italy was more than the original transaction. No way it was working when he sent it based on its condition.
