Recently picked up an Ultracade UVC downscaler to use with a taito x2 on my Sega aero city. I am getting a rolling vertical and horizontal picture. I tried adjusting the v and h hold pots, tried the dip switches on the UVC board, tried Naomi, 256, & Taito type X1, and tried just connecting the UVC fingerboard alone and the problem persists. I have the 02 revision of the UVC board. Is the monitor in the aero city not compatible? Any help is appreciated. IMG_2773.jpeg

Taito type X1
What can i tell is Taito Type X1 & Naomi can run native on your screen without uVC Ultracade downscaler , also try to set the dip switch (Setting Dip Switch #2 to ON will enable 720p Video Output; setting Dip Switch #2 to OFF will enable 480p output) on Taito Type X2 and see if helps !

I managed to use properly the UVC with Xbox360 by using a xbox360 vga cable and i downscaled to 15khz (see link attached) on MS8-29 chassis (same like yours , difference yours is MS8-26)

These are my uVC dip switch settings

I have the dip switches in the default setting from the UVC manual dips 1 through 7 on and dip 8 off, but no matter what combination of dip switches I have on or off I am still having the problem.

Yes I have the other pcb’s Naomi, 256, Taito X1 all set to 15khz and they work great without the UVC, but when I switch them to 31khz and use the UVC to downscale I am still having the issue. Yes I tried both 720p and 480 on the X2 and no change?

Your dips are probably not dialed in correctly. It takes a little playing around to figure out the v/h and combined syncs for different boards. Dip 7 is V, 6 is H and 8 is combined vs separated. I leave dips 4 and 5 in the on positions for auto detect on your input. Dip 3 is the ega/ cga switch meaning on is 15khz and off is 24khz for your output. What do you have your chassis set as, 15 or 24khz? What are your arcade boards set as 15, 24, 31khz?

Thanks. My chassis is set for 15khz. I did try 24khz on my chassis aswell but still no difference. The Naomi, 256, and X1 are usually set to 15khz. I switched them to 31khz to test with the UVC to rule out a problem with the type X2 pcb. I purchased the UVC strictly for the type X2. I do not plan on using it with any other pcb’s in my collection.

My uVC downscaler have dip switch set : 1 on , 2 off , 3 on , 4 on , 5 on , 6 off , 7 off , 8 on . Can you try to set this way ... i dont know how need to be as default like you said is set yours , but when i got the UVC , i used MS8-29 chassis on my NAC and i suppose in your Aero City you use Nanao MS8-26 chassis witch is same chassis only different tube

I would try setting the x2 dip2(?) to off for 480p 31khz. If you want to leave your chassis on 15khz then put dip3 on the uvc to on for cga. Switch 6,7,8 depends on the sync being output by the ttx2. Also take very careful not of the dip orientation on the uvc, it was opposite of what I though it would be as far as on/off and 1-8.

Yes I have the x2 on 480p and dip 3 set to on, on the UVC. Tried setting the dips on the UVC to what has been recommended and still no good. I’m stumped 😩

I tried dip two off. No difference. I had a guy off eBay, called Japan arcade make me the finger board. Where would H sync go to on the fingerboard?IMG_2779.png

Mine is wired with 5 wires with Dip 6 turned off.

I use mine to downscale 360 480p to 15khz

Does this look right?

Actually this adapter you got from that eBay seller looks wrong.

Single sync wire is fine to work when you set your UVC to output composite sync, *as long as the output wire is coming from the Horizontal pin*.

Traditionally , video devices that support both comp and separate syncs output composite on the H pin.

It looks like your connector is pinned to output to the Jamma harness from the V pin.

Swap that white pin to the last spot on that output connector like how @mR_CaESaR ’s is showing, set the UVC to composite sync (SW8 on) and give it another try.

(Ps. I vaguely remember a note to the different versions of UVC where they swapped the pin positions of H and V on the UVC’s output connector, so this could be the issue with that Jamma adapter. It was probably made for a specific rev of the UVC)

Edit: actually it was an older revision that had Ground and Horizontal pins swapped.

Yours is the newer version, so it’s 100% that adapter’s sync output wire being on the wrong spot.

Ok. Thanks guys will move that wire over to the last pin. Will report back. Fingers crossed 🤞.
