Ultracade UVC help

Monitor 100% accepts 15khz. It's an Aero City, MS8-26.

I have the cab, it works with mine and all other 15khz setups I've got too. It might really come down to possibly a faulty UVC but it's worth trying to rule out all variables.

Does this look right?

Mine is wired with 5 wires with Dip 6 turned off.

I use mine to downscale 360 480p to 15khz

Did anyone else notice the wires on the molex connector btw? To my knowledge the yellow wire in @mR_CaESaR is correct and wired to 12v. It really appears to be the wrong way around on yours @Still Green? Please correct me if I'm wrong though.

I didn't even notice that, but you are correct pin1 (closest to the vga) is 12v according to the manual.

The LM2676S-ADJ step-down voltage regulators accept 1.2 V to 37 V, so the 5/12 V mixup shouldn't matter here.
Good to know, haven't looked at the schematic but does the 12v pin get enough juice if 5v is hooked up to it?

That's more what I was wondering if the line expects 12v then supplying 5v more than likely would cause issues.

Yes I swapped the 12 and 5v wires after I took that pic, but still same issue. Going to test it on my NAC tonight.

So same issue on the new Astro city 😤 tried both 15 and 24khz, tried adjusting both 15&24khz horizontal holds on chassis, tried the different dip settings, and tried with h&v sync combined. The voltage to the UVC board is spot on 5 &12 v. After the holidays if someone could please take a look at the UVC for me I would appreciate it.

If it helps you … look , my adapter was wired and made by master FrancoB and my unit it work (i only tried with xbox360 + vga xbox360 cable and for the sound im using the sound amp from jammaizer)
Also ive showed on the first page the settings ive used when i used on ms8-29 chassis that was set for 15khz resolution (low resolution) . i didnt tried to see how it works to downscale on middle resolution

Hopefully this helps also? Took me plenty of trial and error to reach the dip setting combination that produces a good image. Also had to play a bit with the various H and V pots on the monitor side to lock on to a stable sync. Works well on both MS9 monitors at 15khz. fwiw I've been mainly testing with Dreamcast via VGA box and X360/PS3, both via HDMI to VGA adapter, all set to 480p.

Thanks for the suggestions. Going to try messing with it again after the holiday.

Nope. Chalked it up to a faulty UVC. Tried all the suggestions on both my aero and new Astro city.

I feel like that adapter doesn't combine H and V sync into csync, which might be causing your issue. 5 wires in your harness and 6 wires in @emphatic guide as can be found here: https://emphatic.se/?p=139
Just to chime in. I have talked with the Ebay seller in question here (japan-arcade) about his adapter. He said that the 1st version of the adapter had a mistake with wiring. He has noted and solved it. He will update his adapter to have 6 wires from now on and change also the photos of the particular item in his Ebay store to reflect that.

No matter what I do or try, I cannot get this thing to sync at all, image looks terrible. However, I can get it to sync immediately if I feed it through the jamma JVS IO. Not a big fan of the image it produces though (very bright/oversaturated). I noticed mine also has the 2.04 firmware. @BroadwayJose what fw are you on? And are you using a jamma JVS IO in the chain?

2.04 is the most common firmware out there. If you got your UVC from eBay any time in the last decade, it came with 2.04. Don't give up. Over the years I've had multiple UVCs. in 2007 I got one shipped from France and it arrived dead. Every few years, as my soldering skills got better, I revisited the PCB. Fixing broken traces, or knocked off component.

A year ago, I decided to go for broke and resoldered the FPGA. To my shock, it started working and worked ever since! I'm not saying that's what's wrong with your unit, but that there's always someone out there that can fix it for you. Apart from the FPGA and Flash memory, everything is easy to replace components.

I'm on 2.04 also and no JVS IO in the chain for the same reasons you list. I disliked how saturated and bright it looked. Had some better results with a Jammaizer in the chain but it's not perfect and I don't want to mess with the RGB levels on that board either.

For me UVC is connected through a jamma fingerboard now, which is likely how it was intended to be used in the first place.
