I have a hiccuping Billabs Chassis. The model number sticker fell off so I'm not sure exactly what it is. It's running a flat 27" HUI EEI A59ERF181X44 tube. The screen is mounted in an ICE pinata game. I just finished a recap because the non-polar cap was metering at double the spec, but the replacement metered at the same value. The recap didn't help. I understand this issue happens when the board is over-currenting, and shuts down then tries to restart? Any suggestions what could cause this problem? I'm at a loss other than measuring every single resistor.

Alternatively, is there a cheap replacement chassis compatible with this tube?

Thanks,

Check the HOT and any large transistors. A dead short is easy enough to find with a multimeter.

You would have to meter the yoke.

BTW, it's a rare size tube in the US, so don't toss it out. It's 25" Japanese.

I've noticed it's an odd one, but doesn't seem to be particularly in demand. The board seem to go out more than anything else, and it has some burn in. Any place you'd recommend listing it? If there is someone out there desperately looking for one I'd gladly ship it. I love CRTs in most games, but this is just a redemption game and doesn't add much.

I don't see anything that looks like a HOT but all transistors seem ok. If it was a HOT issues, wouldn't that just cause an image collapse? This is trying to strike every few seconds.

Thanks!

I bet many Capcom Q GrandAm 25, Capcom Status 25, Irem Madonna, Jaleco Pony Mk III 25, Namco Excelcabinet, SNK Candy 25, SNK Neo 25 and Taito Canary owners would disagree.

A blown HOT can do exactly what you describe.
