Which is the best I/O?

Nope. I am now able to use all the default named ones. My current set is just how they are downloaded.

I don't know why anyone is recommending you buy a SUN PSU for a Blast since the Blast's PSU is already better than the NAOMI SUN PSUs and supply the proper 3.3V
Because soon as a person mentions "Capcom IO" people assume any Naomi issue they are having is power related. ;)
a number of NAOMI games will not boot unless the IO supports this
Must be Atomiswave has this same requirement as well.

Which is the best I/O board for a Naomi 2 in a Blast City? I am currently using the Capcom I/O but a lot of games do not boot.
The Recommend IO for a Blast City is the Sega JVS to JAMMA IO. Sega even made an official JVS Loom for this IO with the proper power connectors for NAOMI.

Here is the manual for the official Sega Blast City JVS Kit which includes the above IO along with the appropriate harness (literally the only two things you need): https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/images/9/97/SEGA_cabinet_JVS_conversion_manual_.pdf

The reason the Capcom IO doesn't work for some games is that it doesn't support outputs (ie: lamps) and a number of NAOMI games will not boot unless the IO supports this.
I actually tried it this way and I was having issues getting stuff to load. So I just chalked it up to the problems I was having before and decided to roll with two power supplies again. Different results for different people.

Basically I have 3 netbooting rigs all pretty much running the same way (only differences are how the sound and video are set up) and no problems with them .. soooo I am going to stick with what I know.

I will be using the Orange Pi style being developed by @Finisterre and @fsckewe which basically lets you use a USB stick as a compact flash. Boots right into the game .. no tinkering around.
But isn't one of the limitations of that setup one game per USB stick?
So you are swapping USB sticks all the time then?
Uh... You do see where I'm going with this correct? ;)

*cough*onlyoneselfcontainedsolutioncurrentlyexistsfornaomi*cough*

Yeah. Two of my set ups are full netboot rigs one with the display and one with a web interface. The one that I am making for my Blast cabs is not going to be constantly swapped. So 2-3 USB sticks and I am set. I have being kicking around the idea of going vertical with the monitor in the second Blast or my Korean candy and just using it for the Naomi SHMUP games.

Yea now that I have three Vewlix cabs I keep thinking I'm going to rotate one of 'em for Naomi SHUMPs or even JAMMA SHUMPs (via the awesome Jammafier).
It so hard to justify even with three cabs tho, the majority of what I play/love is all horizontal.

if I had room I'd love to get a second Vewlix to run vertical with an Xbox 360 for shmups.

It is really tempting, I'm sure I don't have to tell you the 360 gos into a Vewlix real nice/easy.
I recommend the official 360 VGA cable and Brooks Universal fighting PCBs (but you have many options here).

not interested.
many of games was designed to be used with some specific I/O, or chain of I/O boards, take it as is.

Bummer, but I get it... I'm happy my Taito IO has been working just fine (for being a PoS). ;)

not sure if you get it.
let me try to explain a bit: as we know, arcades had far not best times since late 90x, because people can play cool games at home, so arcade game devs was trying to develop arcade machines which gave experience you cant get at home, with all kinds of unique input devices, feedback devices, nice mechanical moving parts, bunch of lamps, etc.
obviously all of this require specific I/O devices, and I'm not any interested in "consolising" of such games.

but if some game is simple 8-way joystick type, but for some stupid reason require 25 IO lines JVS, while it really uses only 12 - I'm (usually) fine with "fixing" it.

I just want someone to patch out the cabinet requirements for Naomi games...

Or maybe just create an easy printout guide for what games require what cab settings in the Naomi. Half the time I won't turn it on because I remember it's going to take six reboots to guess the right settings.

Well in this case something is going on with @Darksoft converted Atomiswave games.
Namely they are picky about which version of the Capcom IO they run on?
I don't really see this as "consolising" at all, just expanding the platforms these can/will run on (you know, kinda the reason why they were ported to Naomi begin with).

I wouldn't ask anything be done for free, I'm suggesting since @tonyt76 is having problems maybe he would make a donation in your name.
Others having the same issue might be willing to join him... Just a thought. ;)

I hear ya/totally agree!

By forcing arcade operators to have IO's that supported X number of lamps?
What an age we live in!

lets take for example "Tokyo Bus Guide" game - it designed to be used with "parallel type" drive board, which iirc uses 16 I/O lines, plus number of lamp wires. no surprise this game require JVS I/O with enough number of GPIO lines, i.e. Sega Type-2, and will not work with Type-1 or Capcom IOs...

Tokyo Bus Guide
Tokyo Bus Guide?

Dude, no one is going to fault you if you never "fix" that PoS.
I'm talking about good games people would actually pay you money to fix.

"Tokyo Bus Guide, is lame... Go play Mars Matrix"
Wow that line really works even outside of SHUMP reviews. :whistling:

dude, I'm from far not high quality of life country, but sorry, I cant call "money" incomings from such hacking tasks, it is too low even by local standards, in term of required skills / time used / profit.

but it is good enough (I think) as for Dumping Union donations, so I'm kind of fine with this, and doing it in the form of charity
