Up for sale is an NEC XM29 Plus CRT monitor with remote. I am asking $1800, cash and carry from zip code 02190 – I will not ship this. As such, I’m not offering any warranties or anything of that nature. You’re welcome to try it before you take it.
You’ll see this in the included images, but there is a slight “pincushion” effect along the edges of the screen. There are settings to remedy this accessible on the remote. It is more noticeable when the image is under-scanned, especially on Genesis and NES. There is an option to over-scan the image, which eliminates this. I’ve been told by numerous sources that you can re-cap these monitors to bring them back to factory-fresh condition, but that’s a bit beyond my scope of ability. I will recommend “RetroTech” on YouTube, as he has a number of videos dedicated to restoring the XM29+. With that said, the picture is amazingly crisp and sharp. These scanlines are so sharp, they’ll cut your coke so you can do bumps off the casing before a high-stakes round of Yoshi’s Cookie.
No scratches or burn-in on the screen. Speakers have a *very* slight "scratch" to them, which is typical of the age of these monitors. The remote is OEM. See pictures for supported connections. This will be for the monitor, remote, and BNC-to-SCART connection with audio breakout and sync stripper built-in.
I’m in the middle of a move right now so I only have access to a Genesis connected through RGB for demonstration. Buyer is welcome to test this during pickup.
Everything I have thrown at this over the years has looked incredible: Dreamcast through VGA, Genesis and Saturn through RGB, SNES/NES/PCE through stock composite, and CMVS through S-Video.
This monitor is HEAVY, and its basically a massive cube – I would suggest having the trunk space or be willing to put this in the back seat.
I'm hoping that the foumd doesn't downsize these pictures...
