I am looking to make the board needed to make a SEGA FD1094 programmer, but have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions from locals that have done this kind of thing?

I also want to get the CPS-I open source C board manufactured. I just ordered the CPS-I multi which will programme my suicided games again, but figure a programmable infinikey replacement would also come in handy.

Was hoping it will not be too expensive! Especially if there is a minimum of 5 per order.
 
Hello fellow Anzac! I’m actually a dirty pavlova-stealing kiwi, but same same.

I got started down this path a few years back when I wanted a supergun, but couldn’t afford a HAS.

Getting the bare boards made is normally either JCLPCB or PCB. Amazing quality, low prices.

Getting components picked and placed to buy a fully manufactured board for these kinds of projects can be much harder. All of this stuff is fully automated so the range is highly constrained.

Got a link to the project? Might be able to come up with something workable
 
I'm in Australia and +1 for JLCPCB they are very quick if you get the fast delivery.

Also Open Source CPS-1 C board? What is this sorcery?
 
I use mainly use JLC too, but for really small stuff OSHPark is cheaper and faster.
 
I went around for a few quotes for the PGM PCBs initially. IIRC some European PCB house quoted me significantly higher than JLCPCB, and they couldn't even fulfil the full order.
 
Even being in the US I use JLCPCB or PCBWay. It depends on the design. PCBway has options to bevel edge connectors on a PCB which is quite nice. JLC usually comes out cheaper but it's worth quoting your design a few places.

So the Sega one looks like a big stack with a raspberry pi shield being the top layer. I can’t think of anyone that will manufacture that a finished product. Might be some folks on this board who would do this as a one-off.
If I were going to make this I would order the boards from JLCPCB and fabricate myself.
The 64 pin socket is now obsolete, and they were uncommon even when new, so Aliexpress might be the best bet for that part

The CPS2 key-writer has castellated holes on the sides. These used to be an enormous pain but now super cheap on JLCPCB and PCBway

On JLC at least I think you need to tick a special checkbox for this.
The tiny AT isn’t on the list for manufacturing at either, so again I would normally just buy a bunch of chips and hand-solder them.

Soooo, you could be doing a lot of soldering:) I now have a Hakko 206 solder station, but before that I was 100% happy with one of those ksger t12 stations, amazing quality and features for the price.

Yes, lots of soldering indeed! One thing I need to do in the new year, is get a decent goddamn soldering/de-soldering station! Have been struggling with a horrible, cheap Chinese thing for 2 or 3 years now. Have ruined two Jp Pioneer SA-9800 (9500) amplifiers with that thing as well as other things.

Have been dreaming of a Hakko for years but as I am sure you know, they are so bloody expensive;( Just need to get one.

I did not think of the fact that parts for the FD1094 board might be obsolete now, I did not realise at first that it was from so many years ago!
