Well, now that you ask .... I have had to put a lot of time on analyzing the synchronization with DDR+FPGA and the bus of the NEOGEO which has delayed the project a bit. How much...don't know yet.

I'm exploring all the options with FPGA+DDR to make it a perfect match to original carts, but if I see that something is not right, I may need to switch to Flash ROMS. The only problem here is timing. We have 5 buses running all the time an even if we put more DDRs it won't speed it up it's a problem of DDR not answering in *some* specific cases fast enough. If I see that the result is not OPTIMAL, as I said...will cancel and switch to flash roms. Good news is that schematics are drawn out and the rest is pretty much the same....
Sounds like you are struggling with bus contention ... however FLASH is a very good alternative :)

Making this cart is complex without any doubt, but I am also certain Darksoft and Mitsu can do it. However, I do have a constant thought in the back of my head about the encrypted games. AFAIK, there are 2 options:

1. Play the encrypted roms, exactly as they come out when dumping the masked roms
2. Play the decrypted roms, like we have to do with the CPS2

Option 1 is optimal, but I am not sure if it's possible in the budget/time allocated for this project. I think not, because if it was possible, sure DS would choose this path.

What worries me about option 2 is that there are no decrypted roms right now for all the games, and some of them happen to be pretty good games. AFAIK, encrypted games on neo are:

- Metal Slug X, 5 (and 4, if you like it. I know I do.)
- Garou, Mark of the Wolves
- SvC Chaos
- KoF 99 through 2003
- Samurai Shodown V and V Special
- Strikers 1945 Plus
- Matrimelee
- Nightmare in the Dark
- Pochi and Nyaa
- Prehistoric Isle 2
- Rage of the Dragons

So, how will this work? I believe team avalaunch will decrypt the required roms and make them work with the multicart? if so, has the work started already? or is it a very simple task nowadays so it can be done in just some hours therefore will be done once the cart launches?

I know encrypted games are very few compared to the whole neo library, but these games may play an important part for people deciding to get the multicart. Specially since some of these are the most expensive MVS games on the whole library.

Thanks!!

OK. I definitely need to update that 1st post of the thread.

There is no option 1 as you say....it will be option 2 decrypted roms.

Those games are supported and work on MAME so....all the information needed to create a decrypted romset is available thanks to them.

The decrypted roms will be equal to the original?

I mention this because there are emulators whith using decrypted roms but contain errors.

Metal Slug Saga, Garou, Mark of the Wolves, SvC Chaos, Samurai Shodown V and V Special, Strikers 1945 Plus, Rage of the Dragons...

All are interesting games for any fan, If games are not 100% identical to the original it will lose interest.

If the error is in the emulator, then this won't happen in the multi. If the error is coming from the decryption then it will work the same on the multi. If the decryption method is not know, NO ONE is able to play it properly, not in a emulator nor in a multi cartridge.

Btw, I tried a couple of these games in MAME and work well for me.

In a nutshell if the game is playable in MAME then it should work on the cart. Even if it needs some tweaking.

Man I can't wait really for this to be a reality, @Darksoft you are doing Gods work, I mean really bless that brain of yours and the Gods that sent you to this planet to help all Arcade enthusiast in the struggle to play Games on OG hardware. Thank you really !

Thank you. The gold statue of Darksoft has already been commissioned.

Just one gold statue?

You might get $30,000 a pop with the right middle man. :P

They are just ideas, I do not know the technical details and it is possible to do or not.

In fashcards for other systems this is possible: Do several savegames, take screenshot, insert cheat codes, load .iso files from SD Card, etc...

Can you imagine load exclusive NeoGeo CD games on AES????

Or how about load Neo Pocket games, similar to a Super Game Boy adapter but loading from SD card?

Jejejeje

Dreaming is free.
YES,YES,YES,YES,YES,YES GOOOOOOOODDD I CAME

It's like saying "I had an eargasm" when listening to awesome music. Not really anything NSFW or so... ;)

Play NeoGeo Pocket ROMS on AES would be a great thing but I would love an option that would change the region and the system type without UNIBIOS.

I personally don't see a reason for using the MVS/AES as an emulator. Also, isn't it beyond the hardware capabilities of the MVS/AES to play redbook audio?
