Thank you for this! I was able to flash a 7950 GT, but with the Multi, it failed to load any game with the 1.0 release. Selecting any game would return to the Main Multi screen. But now with 1.1 beta, BlazBlue CP runs. I haven't had a chance to test the other games yet.
That shouldnt be the case. I'm using a flashed 7950GT with 1.0 just fine...

Cyber Driver was leaked and dumped. But it uses a different I/O and stock video card.

So, do as Nik said: Convert your X2 to a X2 Fight Box.

Replace the stock video card and hard drive in the X2 with a re-flahsed Nvidia 7900GS and a Nikko-multi drive.

And, think about getting yourself a Capcom I/O or Sega Rev. B I/O (as these I/Os have been tested the most).

The XIO error is because Cyber Driver requires a special I/O board to run properly.

There is nothing wrong with your hardware.

The GPU driver on the multigame only supports up to the 7900 series GPUs. You can use the 1.1beta which has an updated GPU driver, but it breaks Samurai Shodown Sen.

If your technical, I'd buy a 7900GS off ebay and flash it using my guide, or I'm sure one of the guys here wouldnt mind helping you out. Either way its fairly cheap and pretty easy to swap out the video card so thats the route I would recommend.
That game only got released publically in March? I've had that game for like six years and have played it all of zero times lol.

Yeah it's ironic how people who actually have access to the dumps don't play the games while the people who want to play the games don't have access to them. :saint:

Really? I swear I did a test with the 9600GS, everything was good. Powered down, swapped card, and then tried BlazBlue, it would go to a black screen, i'd see the "starting multi..." message and back I was at the Muli Menu.

Is there a log I can capture from the Multi if this happens with other games?

Also, on my setup with the flashed 7950 GT and running the 1.1 beta, Tetris GrandMaster 3 boots to a black screen. I can hear the audio, but no picture.

From my understanding TGM requires a different driver that does not play nicely with other games on the multi, so as of now it doesn't work with the driver supplied with the multi.

it should with the version he is trying. but it hasn't been tested with any video card besides a normal 7900gs. so could be an issue there.

do you have a ps2 keyboard you could plug in and see if anything happens when alt tabbing?

Oh man didn't know the driver was updated with 1.1beta, guess I must have missed that. Thanks Corey!

No PS2 keyboard, all I have are USB (Mac guy here). But I'll borrow one and try again and see what happens.

jugu, are you running in 720p or 480p?

3.4ghz i believe. you can get a pentium dual-core up to 3.4ghz that will work with the chipset but a new bigger CPU cooler will more than likely be needed.

you can even goto a core2quad q6600. its not offically supported by the chipset but i have been inform it does work. i have one on the way at the moment so will be able to give my own input soon.

edit: just checked and 3.6 is the highest in mainstream CPUs and 3.76 with an extreme edition CPU.

Edit2: link to all supported cpus

Have you been able to test the Q6600 yet?

Looking into some upgrade/stock parts for a Type X2 and want to know which CPU to get :)

If you want to keep the OEM case, checkout:

1. Intel Core2 Duo E6700 2.66Ghz 4M/1066 Dual Core LGA775 Processor SL9ZF SL9S7 CPU

It's affordable and installs without any additional power and cooling mods.

Also, pick some new thermal paste, 2~4 GB of name brand Ram, and a large capacity hard drive to go with it.

A. Arctic Silver 5 AS5-3.5G Premium Thermal Compound 3.5 g
B. Hynix 4GB 2X2GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400U 2RX8 DIMM intel Motherboard Desktop memory
C. WD3200AAJS Western Digital Caviar 320GB 3.5 SATA Hard Drive Desktop

And before you go mod. crazy, remember TTX~ games rely heavily on the GPU and DX9+ (and not the CPU); however, emulators rely heavily on the CPU (and not the GPU). SSDD will help you access data much faster (i.e. reduce boot and load times).

The Q6600 works great in my setup. (im using a different base install to Niko's multi).
All games i have tested work as they should. but mame and Attract Mode (what im using as my launcher) got a nice speed bump.
As a note in my setup with the stock 3.4ghz cpu SSFIVAE the attract video would stutter but is 100% fine with the Q6600 update.

As for mame Tekken 3 went from running at ~%50 speed to ~%80 speed. which is a good number considering the lower clock speed.
I haven't done a full stress test yet to see if the power delivery can handle it but from what i have put it through so far it should be good.
Temps haven't been measured but the heat sink remains cool after a good run with mame.

Edit:
A higher clocked core 2 due would be better suited than a Q6600. i'll order a e7600 for testing in the next month or so and report back how that goes

IMHO, a Quad Core CPU may be a bit much.

Some gum to chew on:

A Core 2 Quad is basically two Core 2 Duos in one Chip.

Yes, the X2 mobo does support the C2D cpu. And,
Yes, XPe is a multi-core OS (though not very good at load sharing/balancing). But,
are the emulator applications and games written to take advantage of multi core cpus?

Just think about it: The stock X2 cpu is a P4 3.4 cpu w/ HT, which is a single core CPU.

I know that a Core2 Duo 6400 works significantly worse than the p4

Because it runs on just 1 (slower) core you think?

So if I get it correct there are 3 update options for the stock Pentium 651?
- Pentium 660 until 672
- Core2Duo E6400 until E6700
- Core2Quad Q6600

I have no intention of running Mame or any other stuff on the X2, want to keep it as a dedicated system and run Niko's MultiDisc.
I don't expect any of the games running any faster than they do on the Pentium 651, but want to keep boot/loading times as short as possible (for this reason I will install an SSD as well).
