Need something to hold up the back end a bit better, but otherwise good to go after some brightness/color adjustments.

Now to find a cheap line doubler to get JAMMA stuff in there.

It didn't cross my mind to toss my OSSC in there for the time being. I'll look at that later today.

Close-ups are HARD. I still have the original screen so you get huge red/green/blue bars through your pictures if they're not at very particular angles. But I'll see what I can do!

I chopped up a Sony SXRD today and cut a screen for my cab with a scoring knife. Got a nice cut also that bled like hell.. I don't know how well this will hold up when the projector I get hits it. It sure looks WAYYYY better than it did. In the first image you can see my cab glass laid right onto it before cutting so I could just use that as a scoring guide. Second image is the screen itself installed. Finale image is the glass installed over the screen. Also, the screen sustained a crack at the bottom of the plexi when I was working on it. As long as weathering doesn't make that crack travel I might be okay, made a lazy attempt to seal it a bit with super glue I don't think it is in the screen view. This plexi has a black film. I also scored a rather nice mirror out of that tv. When cut to size it'll be a nice mock of and original. If only I had the brackets. I'll figure out something. This is a major step forward if it worked out. I'll see. I have a fresnel lens also, but I haven't cut it and probably won't bother if the Benq dodges that step for me.

so you did not use the fresnel lens. Which part of that projection tv you use then???? I’m perplexed

The screen itself, which is a separate sheet and the lens is behind it. They were taped together, so I split em, cut it down and installed it. I gotta see if it works out when the projector is installed. Mirror first though. I got my jamma harness today to.

why are you not using the fresnel lens. I thought that was the most important part?

deconstruct to undestand, that is how I learn. So I went on a treasure hunt today into the megalo and an hitachi rear projection TV that I bought.
i learnt a lot about the inside of the megalo and I came out with more question also.
first and most important question of that day:

1- what is the best way to cut the projection screen that I got from the Hitachi?

2- as you can see in the pictures below the fiber glass is bent so when I close the control panel it does close properly.
any idea on how to fix this issue?

I am not using my fresnel lens at all if I don't need it, so I'm not cutting mine unless I have no choice.

do you have the original psu, I think there is an AMP inside and one part is leballed speaker maybe it goes there.

I would use a straight edge, Marker and a skill saw. Than sand your edges with a fine grit Sandpaper.

it looks like you have 3/4" around the frame for give so it should be easy.

I don't know if a fresnal for your replacment projector is a good idea though. I would us RPF and keep it simple.

I used fresnals in the past to magnify screen in DIY projection and your replacement projector doesn't need help with the throw and may hinder your ability to tune it.

They're the same as the Blast, so it becomes "GOOD LUCK" because most of them are rotted out nowadays. On that note, I did reach out to the manufacturer to see what minimum order requirement is on replacements. Someone tracked them down on FB this week and tried to get a dozen but were told they were below MOQ.

I don't know if a fresnal for your replacment projector is a good idea though.

I have the fresnal from mine still in there, looks good. (Still guilty for not grabbing OSSC pics yet).

I'll see if I can figure out where that volume pot goes today.

Hey Rewrite....if I'm right that there are two speakers inside each box, I'm in for probably 12, depending on cost. If you make a group buy, give me a shout, as hopefully that amount would help clear the hump.
