Let's try to keep it respectful at all times. Nobody here wants drama or hurt feelings. NTM, thank you for the clarification.
Exactly that. This forum is drama free. Keep that in mind. Only possitive thinking is allowed :)

Now going back to the topic..... I'm thining more and more that having both the menu and the dip switches is a good option. About having save High Scores, need to document myself further...

More ideas?

I'm curious how how this will work with soft dip settings for MVS setups. The XXX in 1 boots never saved them and had weird defaults. Is it assumed that we'll be able to have soft dip settings saved using this device?

I'm not really sure, but it will behave the same as a regular cartridge. If you mean saveing the dip switch settings of the NEO GEO for each game, that would require modifying all the games in order to read the settings from another location. This is not considered atm.

Soft dip switch settings are saved in local memory on the MVS board itself. There was something odd about the way the XXX in 1 boots operated that prevented that from working correctly, so changing the difficulty, blood settings, timers, etc. had to be done every time a game was loaded.

Presuming it will behave like a regular cartridge, then setting should be saved.

I think the only thing that didnt save was the difficulty level and number of players, which had to be set one time for each game and was stored on the multicart. I'm pretty sure the blood and other settings did save, atleast for the 120in1.

I'm also pretty sure this was due to the nature of the "multicart" and wont be an issue with the flashcart. Which once the game is "flashed" should not be distinguishable from a legit cart.

I can check the 120 in 1 when I get home, if that'll help. About 20 minutes.

I only have the 161 in 1 and it never saved soft dips. That makes me thing that other multicarts might behave differently.

I mean I could be wrong. I can check here in a few minutes though with the 120n1

I also have the 161-in-1, and I can confirm that it does not save the softdip settings ever, regardless of game.

My system saves settings for 8 games on the 120, which is what I thought.

As in only 8 games or you only tested 8 games? LOL

Anyways, I think we can all agree we want to be able to save ALL softdip settings with this flashcart. The same way we would with a legit cart.

8 game's soft-dips is the max that you can have on the MVS's onboard memory (then the 9th game overwrites #1, etc), so the 120 appears to be working like real games.

Edit: Here is a good explanation of how the 150 and 161 work. They can save more than the MVS's maximum of 8 dip settings to the cart, but in a viral sort of way:
The 161 (and 150 and others) in 1 carts sort of HIJACK the memory of multislot boards. High scores will not be saved on the other carts.
Nor will soft dips. The multi cart uses the memory to save a SHIT-TON
of soft-dips ONLY (and only the games in the cart) (no high scores)...

This can be verified by putting a cart in the cab that is on the
multi-cart that you've saved soft dips for. The saved multi-cart
soft-dip will actually work with the original cart that is in the system
as well.

All I can say is WOW! I go away for a couple of days and immediately the thread starts going bad.

DIP Switch game selection with binary? O.M.F.G.
It's a hack to fix issues with the X-in-1 Chinese piece of crap. You don't put stupid things like that into a new design.
Dumbest idea this century.

Hey Mitsurugi-w, can I delete about half of this thread? It's turning into shit. My delete finger is itching for some action.

Would be possible make a flaschard that flash all the roms from the SD card at the same time? even though this process will take one hour, but then no longer need to load more until the user decides change or add new games from the SD.

It would be the possibility to add new games, patches, hacks ... whenever you want in the cart, but without charges when you want to play games there flashed inside the memories of the cartridge. I do not know if this would be technically possible

mmmm which memories can I use to save ALL the games of NEOGEO. The saving process can be done during production, that's not an issue. But the whole library takes a couple of gigas...

some like the chinese multigames, but with the posibility to reflash these with a SDcard, with the posibility to change the game library with a SD card (a lot gigas), and reflash all the memories without need charges for change the game from the SD card, with instant charges like the chinese multigames. Only would be necessary reflash all the memories if you want change the game library, add or delete some game rom.

you'd need to use multi-giga-bit flashes.
the Chinese carts use 21x 1GB flashes. Each flash holds 128M
