What's new
Hi all! I've been having some decoder issues and would appreciate any suggestions 🙂

So I've been using UD-USB decoders for a while and they've worked great for me at home, but the past few weeks I've been taking a CPS-2 setup to locals and I've had two decoders 'die' on me (dead as in the status light is off and no inputs are registered). The first one I put down to a chance failure, but now a second one's gone I think something is up and I don't want to burn through any more adapters if I can help it.

Both times the issues started when sticks were being switched over. The USB connection would seem finicky - the LED would be off, but jiggling the USB plug and getting it at just the right angle would cause the light to come on. Later it'd seem completely dead. The first adapter briefly start functioning again after a couple of weeks, so it wasn't completely fried, but now it's unresponsive again.

First thing I want to check just to be sure: it *is* fine to hot swap sticks, right? I haven't seen any warnings not to (or maybe that's such an obviously bad thing to do that no one mentions it 😬)

If it's a physical issue with the USB port, is there anything I can do to get a tighter connection?

And generally, has anyone else had issues like this? Should I be suspicious of my setup? It's an HDMI modded CPS-2 with an IO board powered from a standard laptop power supply. If I plug the adapters into a minigun powered by a proper Mean Well arcade PSU then I see the same issues (but maybe the adapters got damaged by the first setup?)

Anyone know the answer to this: COIN is mapped to SELECT-BACK or HOME?

EDIT: For my purposes, I will use SELECT-BACK for COIN as older consoles don't have a HOME button.

Yes for Undamned this is correct. SELECT/BACK = Coin

Is there any timeframe for a restock on the USB db15 decoders? Although I did notice the other USB decoder and was wondering if you could also add a db15 head to it, and wire it accordingly if it would on superguns? Thank you :)

Interested in a restock ETA as well. Would really like to use this on a Supergun. Can't wait!

Hoping for some advice: I have a few different terminal block encoders, all of which are suddenly refusing to show K3/HardKick on press. I've tried multiple different controllers, as well as a bunch of the options available with the brooks universal fightboard, but no luck. Interestingly, I /CAN/ directly connect K3 to Ground while in a test menu and the board WILL show K3 as working then, but no dice if pressing from a controller.

I've tried reflashing the firmware, and just now even tried rolling back to 1.4C to see if there would be any change, but no luck. Remapping doesn't seem to have any effect either. Any ideas? They suddenly started acting up a few days ago, but I run a weekly local tournament from cabs and was very much hoping to get this sorted out before our next session X/

@undamned @Axun
Need help guys. Hi so I'm not sure what's going on if it's my axunworks supergun or my db-usb that is causing the problem. So my punch button 2 is not registering. all 7 other buttons work just fine. It's not the arcade pcb. Because I tested with 3 other arcade boards and the same issue occurs. I have tried multiple arcade sticks and also a ps3 controller and it's the same issue. It happens on player 1 and player 2. On my atomiswave board when I run the test it shows punch button 2 as being pressed even without me pressing it. I also ordered a axunworks jamma extractor and the same issue occurs with that. I also have a undamned usb. And this also doesn't work it has the same issue. I have also tried remapping the buttons and it didn't fix it. The button still doesn't register. Please help me it was working perfectly fine I was playing with my son a 2player game for about 2 hours and then it stopped working. Also the button works from my arcade cab just fine. Firmware on ud usb is up to date as well please help

Just encountered the EXACT same issue with the EXACT same setup (CPS2 digital av out + IO Board) today at my locals, one of my decoders seems to have died :(. Was switching between a few sticks, maybe 3-4 at most when it unfortunately had seemed to give out. Confirmed it wasn't my db15 ports as the one decoder still works in both.

Do the undammed db15 to usb work with Brooks Universal fighting board? I keep getting the blinking green light and when I press the buttons to remap, nothing happens just blinking green light. I'm on the latest firmware for both devices.

Also would like to know if the new Hori PS5 fightstick works with these in PS4 mode?

Yes, that's a common combo, works fine normally.

Yep I use mine with Brooks UFBs and no issues

At the time I got mine you did have to connect the stick in a mode (hold down a specific button while connecting) on the UD-USB - I connect mine in PS4 mode

I don’t think it matters with later firmware but just in case yours is older try booting the UFB in a specific mode

What button do I have to hold to put it in ps3/360 mode? Switch is hold k1 I know that much but I can't find the button combination ps3/360.

My brook wireless board is P1 P2 K1 K2 for PS3, PS4, Switch, and PC (I think in that order, not positive at the moment).

I'm signed up for the in-stock emails in case Paradise gets more, but looking for a couple of the 8-button terminal versions if anyone sees them anywhere.

@undamned Is there any way to tell if a decoder is bricked? I busted out my supergun yesterday at a local and both of my decoders were completely dead (no lights, no inputs registered). Luckily another person had two extra decoders (what are the odds) and we were able to use the setup for the tournament. Both of my decoders had been sitting in a box unused for months, so not sure what could have killed them.
