Taito F3 Multigame

If it works....don't touch it.

I made the mistake of touching it on my first f3 mobo. thankfully I didn't torch anything. I had some other folks take readings with multimeters and set mine within the range other people found.

In case someone else messes with it on accident, I set mine to 180 ohms. The people I asked measured their own at 160 and 200.

It's a variable resistor, you measure it like any other. Pick a couple points and set your multimeter to ohms.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THAT POTENTIOMENTER / WHEEL ON THE TAITO F3 MOBO. IT LOOKS LIKE VOLUME REGULATOR BUT IT'S ACTUAL A VOLTAGE REGULATOR. YOU CAN FRY YOUR PCB IF YOU START PLAYING WITH IT. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, DON'T TOUCH IT.
Hm, how can you tell it is in the right position in the first place?
You must use the most basicle principle in Computers. If it works....don't touch it.
If you only received the board - there is not initial 'if it works' :)
So how to know it is in the right position?

look two posts up. @skate323k137 is telling you the values that you should expect.

I'm going to measure mine :)

But would be interesting to know what voltage is controlling and measure it instead of the resistance.

Good point. Actually it maybe there as a final fine tune after production, so it may need precise adjustment on each PCB and the important part is the OUTPUT Voltage.

Italy....ugh. I hope you get it and in working condition. I won't buy anything else on Ebay from Italy. Last transaction I got screwed.

"Oh sorry friend. It worked when I mailed it. Send it back and I'll give you a refund."

The damn shipping back to Italy was more than the original transaction. No way it was working when he sent it based on its condition.

got the same experience from us seller / thief.
eeprom where apart in the parcel and all I get as explanations was insults.
lost 100 € in that ebay bad memory.
and with my several italian experience, all was perfect.
it's all about the honesty of the seller, whatever his nationality.

Just to clear up things. I'm not anti-Italian at all but I got burned so bad that I can't risk the money so I decided just to not deal. Just my choice. The seller I dealt with was very dishonest. Obviously as all have said it's entirely up to the individual seller. Sorry if I offended anyone. I just could never treat anyone like that.

sorry, I my post looked agressive. Just that I read so many times "don't ship to Italy/France/wherever" that I'm bored with that kind of bashing from US fellows. I'm glad to read what you wrote.
hopefully there are still honest people out there

Well, I'm certainly hoping there are still honest people out there...

We will see when I get me F3 in the mail.

:D
