What's new
@Arcade_Lover Thank you, holding start for 3 seconds disabled the shift function when in keyboard mode.

Would it be possible to get a firmware update that enables shift after holding start for 3 seconds BUT when you let go of start it disables shift again automatically? So you have to keep holding start to have shift activated. This is how Arcade 1 up cabs do it and it works great.

Also any luck with the English manual?

I was able to get the CPS2 Kick Harness wired up. It just needed DuPont connectors crimped on and plugged in like so as well as removing the 2x BTN6 jumpers:
SQARCADE PC to JAMMA JVS with CPS2 KICK.jpg

Since I have the jpac, sqarcade and the jammasd I did an input lag test between them all.

LED taped to the CRT and activated by a press of the player1 button 1. The high speed camera recorded using Bad Dudes vs Dragonninja:
PCB: 1 frame of input lag
Groovymame via JPAC: 2 frames
Groovymame via JAMMASD: 4 frames
Groovymame via SQARCADE (in keyboard mode): 2 frames
Mister via JPAC: 2 frames
Mister via JAMMASD: 4 frames
Mister via SQARCADE: 2 frames

I've yet to test input lag on SQARCADE on Dinput/Xinput mode but so far it's looking good. Comparable to jpac and better than JammASD which surprisingly has the worst input lag of them all.

Also while typing this I realise that I forgot to turn on Frame Delay in groovymame. That usually saves another frame or two.

Please help:

Have this setting with groovymame/emudriver etc...and using a Jammasd v3 with the USB connector.
Problem is: When in Mame, the controls of the cab do not work, only the normal keyboard...
I also have this Jammasd Software installed where the controls can be changed and tested: all works fine.
But as soon as i'm starting Mame, buttons and joystick of the cab do nothing...
Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

I also have another setup like this, just with the older Jammasd PS2,this was plug and playa nd works perfect.

Try opening notepad.exe and start pressing buttons on the panel.

e.g. If you press player 1 start button it should print out '1' in notepad.

Likewise press player 2 start button it should print out '2' in notepad.

The rest of the buttons should be:

Player 2 Up should print out 'R'
Player 2 Down F
Player 2 Left D
Player 2 Right G
Player 2 Button 1 A
Player 2 Button 2 S
Player 2 Button 3 Q

Player 1 Up up arrow; will just move the cursor up in notepad etc
Player 1 Down down arrow
Player 1 Left left arrow
Player 1 Right right arrow
Player 1 Button left ctrl
Player 1 Button left alt
Player 1 Button spacebar

If the keys are displaying in notepad then go into groovyMAME, start a game and tap the TAB key and configure the keys.

Thanks man,

i tried that, but still nothing when pressing buttons on the panel.
Would assume the Jammasd is kinda broken, but when running that Jammasd software/test program all buttons from the panel are recognised and working perfectly...only in
Mame or notepad nothing..
any other idea?

It sounds like it's faulty as it should be converting the button presses into keyboard presses. If it's not showing anything in notepad then it's not sending the keyboard presses so MAME has no chance of working.

Maybe try your keyboard layout in Windows to USA?

Or maybe they have upgraded the firmware and it's now in Dinput/Xinput mode or something like that and not a basic keyboard (like the SQARCADE can do).

I changed to Dinput and now it is recognising at least the joystick/directions and coin and start.
Action buttons still dont work....wtf is wrong with this..

But thanks a lot for your help!

Purchased an adapter from SQ Arcade. Thanks to @MickyMac I got it working with Groovymame. I would also love to know what all of the jumpers do.

@Arcade_Lover can you please answer us? We need the ESC key working so we can exit games.

Greetings everyone, well looking for a manual for this SQarcade I find that I am not the only one, by the way it arrived on Monday since the seller informed me that it is a 100% handmade product, thanks to all those involved in the data collected.

My adapter from SQ Arcade died. It won't output video anymore.

I tried chatting with SQ Arcade on Aliexpress, and they made it clear that they have no interest providing a jumper map or manual for this product.

The JammaSD v3 works great, but I'm guessing the keyboard encoder is not low latency?

Is there a reason (or multiple reasons) we are going jpac with amp over the JammaSD for this task now? I was under the impression the JammaSD with a CPS2 kick harness cradle was the goods..what has changed?

jammASD works but has terrible input lag that adds 2x frames. You might not notice it but jpac has 0 frames of lag.

SQarcade also has 0 frames but there is also 0 support and 0 documentation from the creator.

There is another device I'm very interested in from Antonio Villena. It is sold for mister but should work on a PC too. Has the audio amp built-in. Shame it's out of stock. I'm going to buy one and measure the input lag once it's back on sale: https://antoniovillena.es/store/product/jamma-adapter/

How is the JPac setup different than the JammaSD with the cradle setup we've discussed, Micky? And do both of these options work okay with a two player setup or do you need to of a specific device?

They are identical to set up for player 1 and player 2 with 6 buttons. No changes to emulator key mapping.

The only difference is you have to faff around with an external amp on a jpac. Have a look back a page or two and there are pictures.

Is the two extra frames of lag a noticeably bad downgrade that you would make that tradeoff? I guess it's this - JPac has less lag but requires additional parts...JammaSD has more lag but is an all-in-one solution. Which of the two has more value? How much extra are external amps?

From what I understand, up to 3 frames of lag is "ok", in most situations, if it's consistent.

You would have to determine if it's ok with you.

That being said, if a game requires precise timing, I don't know that any lag is ok.

You could spend $10 or $10k on an audio amp. It's up to you. Usually, a lot of money is not required for this application.

I put a 2 channel amp in my cabinet that cost $40. I find it to be more than adequate.

Before that, I had taken apart a pair of PC speakers and was using the amplifier circuit board as the amp. It sounded good but there was an accident and that was the end of that.

This is the amp I have attached to my jpac's if it helps: (cost around €15)

You can solder the power cable to the 12V and GND on the jamma connector finger board pins on the jpac. See the picture posted on the previous page.

The JAMMA standard is MONO so in some ways, jpac and separate audio amp is better as you can set up the stereo audio to suit your cab.
In my case I manually solder the right speaker wires to the jpac jamma finger board. Right speaker + soldered to Pin 11 to and Right speaker - to pin M. All my jamma cabs are made by "Electrocoin" and were wired for stereo like that at the factory.

PS I have an order in for the Antonio Villena JAMMA adapter https://antoniovillena.es/store/product/jamma-adapter/
Will post some notes about it once it arrives.

I wonder if Andy would be interested in redesigning the JPAC to include an audio amp?
