come again?Been here since day 1 but I don't remember seeing it mentioned: will there be a screen saver? Which could include attract mode for any of the flashed games, I suppose.
This makes zero sense. Why would you want a screen saver? This is not a PC we're trying to emulate, and every game has its own attract mode anyway.Been here since day 1 but I don't remember seeing it mentioned: will there be a screen saver? The idea is that if there is at least one game loaded, the menu will jump to the first slot with a game. If non is loaded then the menu will show first.I'm amazed with the creativity of some requests
Maybe it was discused before, but will there be a way to completely skip the menu? I only really need the menu if I want to switch one of the preselected games (that will happen once every a few weeks/months). 99% of the time I will just play one of the 4 preselected games, So I don't really need to jump in the menu, and I won't lose the "arcade feeling"
It makes perfect sense. You don't want a static menu to stay on screen forever. Ideally, if you walk away and leave the menu sitting there, the multi would cycle through the attract modes for the loaded games, just like a multi slot typically would. After it cycles through those, it could return to the menu, sit for a while, and start over again. This makes zero sense. Why would you want a screen saver? Let's not waste DS's time here.
Or you could just tap A before you step away to get any random game loading and let that game's Attract Screen be the screensaver. It makes perfect sense. Well sure. But not everyone is going to remember or even know to do that. And in my case, I'd be referring more to when people are over playing games, not me. Chances are good that my Neo would never be on long enough in one sitting to burn in the menu anyway, but that doesn't change the fact that it would be a nice to have feature.Or you could just tap A before you step away to get any random game loading and let that game's Attract Screen be the screensaver.
Seriously doesn't seem necessary for the menu itself to offer a screensaver.
This is exactly the use case I had in mind, thanks for clarifying @Mattroid. I don't consider it a dealbreaker either but it's definitely something that's going to eat at me if I have people over and turn the MVS cab on.Well sure. As a comparison, many of the shitty multiboards out there don't do this and guess what, their menus are burned into screens everywhere. Something like the ArcadeSD, on the other hand, sits on the menu for X seconds and if no input is found, then it cycles through the games on the board and selects one, goes through the attract mode, cycles some more, goes through the attract mode, and so on. If you press something, then you're immediately taken back to the menu.
This sounds like something that could be added later - not a day one feature, so not something to delay the project, but something to keep in mind for the future. This is in no way a deal breaker (for me) - @illinx just asked a question. Either the multi will do it or it won't. No need to pick apart a simple question.
