I can't wait to order one.

I have an AES and a consolized MVS (with a 161 in 1 game)
so I'm ordering an AES flashcart, but I have a question. I imagine the hardware doesn't differ that much in between MVS and AES versions, except for the connectors and some hardware/software settings. What are the chances of having a separate daughter board to convert from AES to MVS and MVS to AES versions of the flashcart? is it too far fetched? I don't think it would eat too much into the potential sales, but could be another nice feature and give this cart another edge over the NeoSD...

edit: typo

there will be a AES Version of the cart later

I know there will be AES versions of the cart. What I meant was that it would be really nice to buy let's say an AES cart, plus an adapter so you could use the AES cart on both your AES and MVS. I don't think the carts differ that much internally and I guess that the main difference would be the connectors, and perhaps some software settings. So what I'm suggesting is for Darksoft to consider making those adapter cards (if they're possible)

there's more difference than a connector.. the MVS have the PRO-CT0/NEO-ZMC2 on the motherboard. The AES doesn't have this chip, the chip is in the cart itself.

Now I would assume that the DS-Multi doesn't have physically this chip in the AES cart. I would assume that this chip is being "simulated".

In this case, one could think of a potentiall connector adapter (much cheaper than the Magic-Key since it would not include the chip) and to have a way to activate/deactivate the PRO-CT0/NEO-ZMC2 simulation in the DS-Multi through the menu.

@Darksoft would that be possible?, that sounds like a big advantage in comparison with the other multis.

I should have asked this earlier, as I was wanting to know if future updates were to become available would there be a way installing patches on the multicart?

Yes, Darksoft is always great about offering us new treats via firmware updates. The Neo Geo Multi is going to be extremely powerful for a flash cart, so he should have lots of cool things in store for the future.

Yes. The FW updates and menu updates will be as easy as updating the FW on the CPS2 kit. Just place the update file in the update folder and it will automatically upgrade for you. Right now on the proto the menu updates are loaded into an invisible slot manually. That may change in the final version.

Great news though. Darksoft gave me a FW update today that allows recovery from a bricked unit. All because I F'ed up my proto. Now it can't happen again. lol Just so you know, bricking the final design will be nearly impossible. It's just there as added protection.

so you are ready to do your product preview?

I will shoot a video as soon as a bug in the menu is fixed. I have been doing testing though. So far the games work outstanding and the loading times are quicker than even I thought they would be. Can't wait to show some side by side loading time comparisons for you guys. If the menu bug is fixed by Tuesday I can do a video before I leave on my business trip. Otherwise it will have to wait 10 days. I've got my fingers crossed to have an update by Tuesday.

Do all games work by now? will we be seeing Metal Slug X and kof2003 comparisons? that would be awesome IMHO.

Aww man...after seeing the YT videos I am so juiced to order one. It will definitely be worth the wait!

You can always shoot the menu video once you get back from your trip (and it's been fixed), but why not shoot the loading time video now before you go...

:D
