What's new

MiSTer FPGA

I cant get any type of usable picture from the JT18 core. On my Astro City -> MS-9 29 S.

Tried the core and pressing “+ and -” per the GitHub thread with no change. Might be doing that part wrong.

You got the core that is compiled to support using +/-?

I recall reading it was +/- on a Spanish keyboard. Not sure how that impacts things.

I believe so. I grabbed from the GITHUB page for this issue. I tried shift and non shift to get those characters on my wireless kb. Then plugged into my PC to make sure it was making + -

Didn't seem to change anything for me.

I think he was specific to say the keys at a specific location and he showed where they were on the keyboard.

I might be reading too much into it but odd for him to mention if it's really just plain plus and minus.

I hope Jotego is persuaded that the issue isn't capacitors. Or that he alters the core to be less "accurate" and just output something that works for most people.

I have the wireless keyboard from mister add-ons if that sheds any light into my situation

The monitor I am having my convergence issue with this core had the Toei TC-RM25T chassis recapped not too long ago, it's definitely not a capacitor issue in my case.

Has anyone seen a solution to fix this System 18 convergence issue?

Was really excited to see the Jotego Moonwalker beta available, played through it today and it's fantastic but I still have this convergence issue going on. Makes the game a bit blurry.

I don't think it's even been acknowledged as a problem.

You can always enable the scaler for analog output and that should allow it to sync. But then it's not like the "real thing". Although (I believe) Jotego thinks the current implementation is how the "real thing" behaves.

Yeah I the games syncing thankfully so they do display and play, Just the convergence itself is a bit off which creates a bit of a hazy effect. I have the same thing happening with all the System-18 games.

They're playable and it's just a niggle really.

Had a bit of a look over on Patreon and it seems he's aware of it so fingers crossed something is amended at some point.

My mistake. Wrong issue.

I don't have a lot of experience with real system 18 hardware but I know even in MAME it's not crystal clear.

Back on topic - a question:

Has anyone been successful with enabling cheats for arcade cores in MiSTer? I've seen jotego's write up and I'm either not smart enough to execute or it's a bit confusing to follow. For anyone familiar:

  • Is it simply a matter of editing the .mra file or is there more to it?
  • Is there a known depository of games with cheats enabled ready to use as-is?

All I'm looking to do is some simple stuff like enabling infinite time/meter/health for several CPS2 fighting games. There are not many training rom hacks out there so I'm looking to see if this is another approach possible.

any luck on this?

Also how do you add hacks? I have a 1.0 MRA of SF2 MIX but want the 3.0. When I asked him how to make an MRA I got jargon lol.

Yeah this whole process has been brutal. The answers seem to be impossible to find, both for the cheats and building new .mra files. No, I haven't gotten anywhere since I asked those questions and I've periodically searched every few months whenever I think about it again.

Only reason I still have the few hack roms in my sd card at all is because they came from a repository that atrac17 managed at one point and I hear that's not available anymore these days via update_all. There has to a better way because this is all borderline frustrating.

Does anyone who has actually been keeping up on these things know when this thing comes out?

I'd seen before it was supposed to be a couple weekends ago, but still not on their site it seems.

It's the first case for a mister I've seen that I don't hate, and with the RT4K don't really need analog out, so it'd be nice to snag one.

I just got a Mistercade v2 and setup everything and tested on my Astro City but I am getting this image. I tried the same SD card on my Astro City 2 (Mistercade v1) and had no issues.

I’m confused if my Astro city Ms-9 29s supports
15k and I am using the 15khz ini file what am I not doing right?

I always use the horizontal 15khz mister ini file.

Edit : Dropped a Mistercade v2 specific 15khz file on and it worked. Oops.
