What's new

Pre-built SD for 1.0.0-RC1 for use with SD2PSX/PSXMemcardGen2

  • Namco 2x6, Game ISO from SD2PSX: No (maybe in the future)
  • PS2, SD2PSX in PS2 Mode, PS Game ISO from SD2PSX, Yes
  • PS2, SD2PSX in Arcade Mode: No
  • PS2, Namco ISO from SD2PSX: No

My TO-DO list is already ENORMOUS

However, when I get some time (not soon) I'll evaluate the possibility of both:
  • repurposing neutrino to allow tricking the arcade FS modules (ACATA, ACCD, ACDVD, etcétera) to redirect game data I/O to other devices like SD2PSX, USB, iLink or HDD. (No network bc COH hardware has no SPEED chip and DEV9 is recycled for arcade interface)
  • Modifying neutrino (and the retail games) to run on arcade hardware (imagine retail games modified to benefit of 256 overclock)

Hi all. Im new to the system 2x6 stuff, would this method suffice for me to write dongles on a 246C?

put civ.bin on the sdcard :)

You don't. This feature is not available for arcade systems, yet. - For namco it is only used to deploy security keys. - Launching ISOs is only avaiable for PS2 and only with a specific OPL version
I'm stuck at the civ..bin not found, and the instructions just are not clear.

I flashed sd2psctd 1.0.0.-RC1, set it to arcade like the steps show in the first post, then copied the memory cards to the COH directory. When I go to the PS2 settings menu and deploy civ.bin. not found. I've tried selecting the card and channel for the game I am trying to load as well, nothing seems to be working for me.

Is there a more comprehensive instruction for this for the System 2x6 ? I'm really not sure what I am doing wrong.

I am also interested in this - I haven't seen any solid "this is how you get it to work" posts for this or the memcardpro2.

Maybe read this thread again? Those questions already have been answered.

If there only would be clear messages like "FILE NOT FOUND" if a file is not found on the sdcard :D

And maybe there are guides about the SD2PSX which could be easily be found :D

- Put SD2PSX in ps2 and arcade mode
- get the civ.bin somewhere, put it on the sdcard
- deploy the civ.bin
- put the mention package, in this thread, on the sdcard
- power up the sdcard by usb power
- select the savegame for the game. load it
- unplug power
- put your sd2psx into your 2x6
- load game and cross finger it loads

Ok I get it now, my mistake -- the civ.bin file is the 'secret sauce' that can't be included in the downloads, got it.

I was successful in finding a civ.bin after some searching, and it says it is for the psxmemcard gen 1 2 and sd2psx

The instructions say under Deploy CIV, to Prepare, but step one starts you off with creating an new file and copying the contents of a civ.bin. It's unclear as to which one should be on the sdcard? Is the new file just a confirmation or does it have to specifically be a different file? Why can't it be the downloaded one?

Well, you either can "find" the civ.bin and you are ready to go OR you can find the 8-byte string to create the civ.bin :) - Two different variants to solve your problem.

@El_isra thank you for your hard work on this.

Is there a place one can follow the development ?

I would really like to use my sd2psx to play Gradius V but last time I checked it was not supported ?

Hi.

Well.

I have a webpage. most of my social media is linked at the bottom of the landing page

https://israpps.github.io/

I mostly lurk on twitter, PSX-Place and the PS2 discord server linked on my page (even has a channel dedicated to arcade PS2 if anyone wants to come by)

Do you use the SD cards that they came with? Mine dosent seem to like the file names on the memory card download. Keeps saying file name too long or invalid.

Id really appreciate some help to set this up so i dont have to keep changing dongles

I used the SD card it came with and had no issues. Maybe try a new SD card though.
