APOCALYPSE Irem M72 Multi, Sales , Installation and Support

Two more things to check in addition to making sure the M72 Multi boards are fully seated and that the underside of the middle board isn’t rubbing against the top of the Multi daughterboard on the bottom:

- Make sure the board stack is receiving 5.0V of power. The M72 triple board stack draws a lot of power and you may need to bump your power supply up a bit. Try running at 5.1V and see if the glitches stop.

- Make sure the ribbon cables connecting the boards together are fully seated and in good condition. You can use a multimeter set to continuity check to confirm a good connection on each pin. It is possible for one line to develop a short and cause glitching.
Thank, I am always adjusting the 5.0v before using any pcb. Il will set it at 5.1v and see if there is any difference.
About the ribbon, do you recommend to first test continuity on the unplugged ribbon ?

Put it on it's side (vertical) and see if it does it. Mine can be funny if its flexed and I get glitches, most notably missing backgrounds in air duel. I mounted mine super snug in a case and havent had the issue since.
Ok thank you, means that is possible problem on this system

Yes, checking continuity on each pin of the disconnected ribbon is definitely worth checking out.

Do you have a case to recommend for m72 ? I found one from highflow.nl but I don’t if it’s a good product or not

+1 for the @Semload case.

Yes, I know these boxes. They're aesthetically pleasing, but I doubt they prevent bending of the PCBs. Is there nothing to hold the PCBs in place in the middle? Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm basing this solely on internet pictures .
I'd like a Lions 3 box like the CPS 1, which has reinforcements to hold the PCBs in place.

Yes I know these boxes. Thanks
I am just doubting it can prevent pcb bending
I mean it's mounted directly to the case. For extra reinforcement mount legs under the middle of the pcb to the base of the case. You can also place spacers in between the pcbs for additional stability. You can make it however stable you need it with a little creativity. This case is how I stopped mine from flexing and why I suggested a case. I was using an acrylic design similar in fashion to a lions3 case that I made myself but had flex issues.

Ok thank you for your explanation, I will consider to maybe get one and test it

I have this one and like it very much. I was able to mount the rotary selection switch in the left bottom corner so it is under the acrylic. I added additional standoffs that rest on the acrylic and static safe foam blocks between the board layers to keep it from gravity's curse.

Thanks for your message

My memory was wrong about the foam. I removed it when it went to the case as it wasn't needed with the additional supports present.

Do they provide this exactly case for m72 as a standard, or you asked them for longer spacers and boards to fit your m72 multi ?

I bought the acrylic from them and then went shopping for my own standoffs. They include some but not as many as I added with the clearance I wanted
Ok, They are selling only one type of acrylic ? Or is there a special type size for multi ? Where could you get those standoffs?
