Hi, I am trying to fix a namco system 1 board. Currently if I put it in test mode it loads to a black screen with 3 clicks from the speaker. I want to check all the roms. I can read some of the roms in my reader but some I can’t identify. They have the following number on them:

MN231001NZZ (used at position PRG-6 for example)

thanks

Are the devices 28 pin?if yes, they are 1Mbit MASK ROM with non-JEDEC pinout. You can read them as 27C010 but you have to use an adapter to swap /OE and A16.

P.S.

Yes, they are 28 pin 1Mbit MASK ROMs, I attach datasheet.

Thank you very much! I am getting what looks like a Ram1 error with code 0001 after it when booting in test mode. Do you know where I can buy these (position B2, Toshiba TMM2064P-70)? I can find TMM2064P-10 but not sure that will be compatible?

that would have worked if the sale wasnt ended! :)
always use good turned-pin / machined-pin sockets incase you need to change it again.

Thanks stj. I bought the last 4 they had :)

if you were going to spend that kind of money then you could have got the ram and sockets from RS

Ah, I didn’t have a clue where to buy them. You live and learn. Thanks for the heads up.

@stj for future reference which SRAM and sockets would you get from RS? I can find

AS6C6264-55 but not -70. Not sure if that makes a huge difference?

the number at the end of the sram is the maximum speed it can be run in inverse format.
so 55 is faster than 70 and so not a problem, lower numbers are better.

yes, the one you linked looks very nice.
