Darksoft Neo Multi Help thread

I found one mention of this issue but couldn't find any additional info on a possible cause or fix.

Sengoku 3 seems to randomly revert to Japanese language and graphics. Once it is stuck in Japanese, manually reprogramming the slot is the only fix I have found. NVRAM and region settings changes have no effect. So far, Sengoku 3 is the only game I have run into that does this, but I wouldn't be surprised if others did it also. I am using an MV2F with a U2 US bios if that matters.

It's not a big deal to reprogram the slot, but just curious if there is any way to keep this from happening?

the exact same problem...very strange.this weekend I'm changing the power supply and doing some tests.I have another multi mvs that doesn't have this issue
For my part I tested two superguns, three slots (two MV-1FZ then MV-1B) and four power supplies including that of my capkited BLAST and a Mean Well RT-125A but the problem was still there.

I found a generic, modulable Jamma power supply.
I set it to 4.60 and the mvs doesn't boot
at 4.70 I always have the audio problem.
same try with another mvs1fz with original bios with no luck.
at this point I think the problem concerns the multimvs also because I have another multi (purchased a few years ago with graphic problems) and the audio works perfectly.

I will have a look and DM you all to try some new FW.
@Rizzardi84 the cart that you mentioned that works. Is it also Multi MVS?

yes it's a multimvs, which I bought about three years ago, for a few months it has had some graphic glitches (I contacted you with a pm asking if you could take a look)

@Rizzardi84, @Roch, @GeorgeSpinner sorry if this was already asked, but did you try this fix?

If none of this works, you can try these FW. I recall that one of them worked better with MV1F and MV1FS for some people.

thanks darksoft,do you think it's better to cut the trace or try to install one of the 3 firmwares? is there one in particular that works better with the mv1fz?

ok so first link r1173 doesn't work
second r1102 no sound at all
r1040 black screen
i try all firmware with last menu.

Hey Darksoft, I’ve been following the thread today as I try to get my MultiMVS working. I brought it in the last batch (one of the 10 Aussies).

I also have an mv1f board, it’s been consolized. It’s got a Neobitz component, svideo and composite board in it. (Running it through component).

Power supply is new Mean Well RD-85A.

Was having problems with the new 32gb Lexar micro sd card (was class 10), but my 16gb sandisk class 4 turned up today. (Not from CandyCabClub, but the same one from the supplier).

Formatted on SD card formatter (newest version) fat32, 32kb Clusters.

The games are from a pack labeled
Darksoft Neo Geo 2023-03-28.7z from probably archive.org
I don’t know if they’re good or not, but they all work in my analogue pocket ok.

So when I play Metal Slug, sound goes in and out and is also just wrong. Same with last blade. Also when I try Pulstar I get graphical glitches/pulses down the right hand side of the screen intermittently.

This is with the newest firmware and menu.

I can only get it to run even like that when the power supply is dialed up to 5.25v-5.7v

The cart won’t boot at all below 5.1v, and is very unstable at that value.

All my MVS carts run all day long at 5.0v from the mean Well, which is how it came. (They are metal slug 1,2,3,4,5,x and Samurai Showdown).

The mv1f itself stops posting at all at 4.8v
I’ve tried down to 4.7 but it still won’t post.

Today I also tried the cutting the marked trace that you mentioned above (and it no longer beeped with my multimeter).

No noticeable change at all, if anything it feels a bit more unstable.

I then tried flashing the two bios you listed just above.
Version r1040 flashed (with the most current menu), and the multi no longer boots visibly. Just a blue screen. Also it hung after flashing, I left it 4.5min, then checked the files had disappeared from the update folder (they had). Put it back and tried booting again, and just a blue screen.

Version r1102 flashed (same menu), quickly booted into the menu. Loaded metal slug (game 1), and now there’s missing graphics while the sound is working in the background. Then it hangs at the metal slug screen with only the writing “metal slug” and no picture under it. Power cycled, and went back into metal slug, exact same result.

Then back to r1169, and it’s back to working again but with intermittent/missing audio.

The bios on the mv1f is the original bios, and the only jumper I have on is #7 (freeplay).

So like Rizzardi84 those two bio are also not working on my multimvs which is from the newest batch.

I’m happy to try anything else you want me to, but response could be slow in the next few days as we’re waiting to see if tropical Cyclone Alfred comes to pay us a visit in the next few days.

Sorry for the long 2nd post, hope it helps.
