ok guys, i can confirm that after testing the third mvs i did not experience audio loss on metal slug.
Never seen anything like that with the multi. Maybe @l_oliveira or @Ape Cosplay have seen it before or has any idea of what could be going on here? Are these known issues? I haven’t been able to find any information about this online.
Thanks for your reply! The rhythm of the music is defined by the timer on the sound chip which is part of the neo geo board. That is controlled by the Z80 which is also part of the neo geo board. The multi cart only provides the program for the z80 to run. I suggest you try the cartridge on at least one different MVS board of any type and confirm if it has the same issue. There is a slim chance that the neo geo board has a fault on the sound circuit.
Even the eyecatcher music is playing overspeed.
Does this happen on all games?
The sound issue has to do with power. Its been talked about and pretty much sorted out. Have him bring the 5v power down to about 4.7 to 4.75.Hello,
I sold my Multi MVS (September 2024 batch) and the new owner informed me that he has sound losses regardless of the game after a few minutes. The sound sometimes comes back but may also not come back at all.
He tested the Multi on several slots (2 different cabinets and consolidated MVS) and he still has the problem. The caps are changed on all his slots.
For information, the buyer makes the Multi running at 5.1v (which seems a bit high to me, no ?)
In your opinion, is this a hardware problem of the Multi or a firmware problem ? Thank you in advance for your ideas and feedback. I find myself in an uncomfortable situation with the person to whom I sold the Multi.
Cheers,
Did you also sold your SD cart with the Multi? I once used an old cheap SD card and had all various strange issues like graphical glitches and loss of sound.Hello,

I'm currently repairing someone's CMVS (Non-JNX) and the main focus is to get his Darksoft multi working on it.
When I first got the system I was getting a Unibios error saying "Privilege violation", cleared the backup RAM and now it shows the Unibios splash screen then it goes to crosshatch.
Cleaned the cart slot and cart and still the same issue. I have tested the cart on another MV1C and it works beautifully. So there must be some comms issue with this CMVS and the multi. It plays SNK carts just fine as well.
Any help is appreciated.
Definitely.Should I be checking the voltage at the cart slot and setting the voltage accordingly there instead?
Thanks. 4.8v is what I'm looking for there then?Definitely.
Here is the pinout of the MVS cart slot: https://wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?title=MVS_cartridge_pinout
