WTB Initial D v3 full card reader assembly/housing

I was just logging on to post the almost identical want-ad... but you were here first. Here is a bump to the top of the list for you. In my case, I'm looking for the F-zero housing. I have the card reader (albeit not functioning... but working on that too) but need the metal housing. Good...

F-Zero AX License Card Reader Schematic

Hi All! I'm troubleshooting the license card readers on one of my F-zero AX cabs. There are no obvious signs of damage like a blown cap, damaged trace, or obviously burned up component. The card reader functions are all working except the actual read/write to the magentic card. It can load...

FS Trade: Sega GD-ROM Bracket - Need flat/horizontal, Have Vertical

If you are ok with it, can we wait a bit to see if I can work a trade? I've been dumping so much money into this project, I was hoping to use this as trading collateral.

FS Trade: Sega GD-ROM Bracket - Need flat/horizontal, Have Vertical

I ordered GD-ROM brackets for my F-Zero AX from e-bay. I ordered a qty of 2 from a single listing and got two different brackets. Go figure... I need the flat mounting style bracket. I have a vertical mounting style bracket to trade. Is anyone looking for the vertical style and has a flat...

    F-Zero AX Seat Cushion Repair?

Hey Outrun2, that is awesome! I'll send you a message over on the other forum to get my reservation in. I need 3 black sets for F-Zero AX (and I'm thinking a spare set).

    F-Zero AX Seat Cushion Repair?

I just registered and posted on that thread, thanks for the link! The silly thing is I've seen that thread a bunch of times as I was searching, but from the first page it just looked like sales of salvaged parts and some stuff he had around. I didn't realize that thread went for so many pages...

    F-Zero AX Seat Cushion Repair?

How possible would it be to remove the foam from the seat plastic without destroying the foam? I'll probably do some exploratory surgery here soon. If I can get it off, then I'll have a shot at covering it with new material.... of course after I check with outrun2 and see if any repros are...

    F-Zero AX Seat Cushion Repair?

Is there any info out there about repairing the seat cushion covers on the F-Zero AX machines? These seat cushions appear to be a bit different than the typical Sega seat in that there is a perforated vinyl (leather looking) cover attached to the seat foam. Of course, this is either completely...

    Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun review

I picked an 808 out of the garbage can (literally) at work and the cool thing is you can get all the service parts directly from Hakkko still. So after an order with them (for significantly less than the cost of a new unit) I have a completely rebuilt (new diaphrams in the pumps/check...

Relay clicking and no image Toshiba D29CQ51 / PB9929

So before going much further, is there any way to identify the proper value for the small surface mount cap that I buggered and replaced? As noted, the original was hit with my desoldering gun originally, and during the attempted correction I lost it. So I placed an on-hand surface mount 100pf...

Relay clicking and no image Toshiba D29CQ51 / PB9929

Thanks for the advice guys! @nem: So, I've been over the caps to ensure that the polarity is correct. I used a kit from arcadepartsandrepair and confirmed as each cap was pulled off the board that the cap going in was equal or higher voltage, and capacity matched exactly. I will still put...

Relay clicking and no image Toshiba D29CQ51 / PB9929

I recapped the working Toshiba D29CQ51 from my F-Zero AX. After powering back up and having an image for a few minutes, the monitor is now blank and one of the relays is continuously cycling. About once per second it will double click (assuming trying to turn on, then immediately turning off)...

    F-Zero Driver Board Schematics?

Hey All! I have my 3 recently acquired F-Zero AXs almost all up and running (2 of 3 are 100%). I know, I need to put up a post describing all the stuff I'm doing to them... it's coming. But for now, I'm working on the 3rd and final machine. The only failed board I have out of the three...

Changing region on Triforce type 3

You've raised an interesting point, one which I can no longer test. I tried the 30-button press region change only on my original configuration. I didn't try it after ONLY putting in the network zero key. I only ever tried it after BOTH performing the firmware update AND installing the...

Changing region on Triforce type 3

Just make sure you've flipped dip switch #2 (behind the vertical board for the security chip) ON (towards the security chip board) to enable the network boot. EDIT: this requires the cover to come off, just to be clear... Other than that, the instructions for the PC have you configure your...

Changing region on Triforce type 3

Do you have a monitor hooked up to the Triforce? It should say something about loading (don't remember the exact screen verbiage). When I did this on the PC, it took a while (roughly felt as long as loading from the GD-ROM, but I was only using a 10baseT network switch). If you were able to...

Changing region on Triforce type 3

I can't speak specifically to your Wipi setup, but for me, I used my PC and the "transfergame.exe" program to send the new firmware over the network to the Triforce. Once it is all received, the Triforce reboots automatically and prompts you to press the test button to allow the updating of the...

    New guy from Michigan

Well, since I started posting already on a Triforce thread, and I'm looking to procrastinate work a bit, seems like the perfect time to post up an intro! I've been into pinball/arcade games for about 15 years now. It started with a Cyclone pinball machine (with full spousal approval) and grew...

Changing region on Triforce type 3

... I was confusing you with the OP. DOH! I clearly see (after going back to the top) that you were helping supply the OP with the security chips. I need to slow down and process more before typing sometimes always. :D

Changing region on Triforce type 3

Yes, exactly this. My Triforces are all Type 3. I found that once I popped the network zero key in there, I was good to go (for either network loading or CF reader loading, of course just have to flip the dip switch).
