My custom mini home cabinet - the Deska by Arcombi

Hey, this is the culmination of my work into building a halfway decent home arcade with good materials, and I think i'm ready to start shipping at least in my prototype/beta testing phase. It would be cool even if you could just take a look at my etsy page for more details...

Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Has anyone tried replacing the F0095H's with new flash chips? This is the in production successor to the flash chip it's based on - https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Micron/MT28EW01GABA1HJS-0SIT-TR?qs=j%252B1pi9TdxUZnollz4AWVbA%3D%3D

Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Questions: For my cartridge where my prom is one large stilt chip, how can i combine the 3 files into 1? Also, why hasn't anyone tried updating the flash chips over JTAG boundary scan? (besides the 2-3 day long wait times for 1gb) I'm going to try it that way with a few games as a test

Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Congratulation! Instead of reprogramming the stilt chips, you could also use a 1gb sized flash chip like this one. If you just change the OE pins in CPLD slightly and create an adaptor PCB for a 56 pin TSOP https://mm.digikey.com/Volume0/opasdata/d220001/medias/docus/2280/MT28EWzzzABA1.pdf

Well as much as the roms are "stolen" :D . When it's on github anyone can do it if you have the hardware, or offer to do it for people.

StarBound - My first custom arcade cabinet build

I build arcade cabinets. The StarBound is my newest design, based off the Vewlix obv. On display at TooManyGames 2023! (I ran out of colorful buttons lol) Shiny laminate board atop plywood construction, 32 inch screen, 4 speakers, space for an acryllic display (that i didn't install lol)...

Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Congratulations on accomplishing what I could not. :D:D Another possible approach for reprogramming the flash chips is to use JTAG, which may be hard with such an old CPLD chip (the version of Quartus that supports this chip runs on XP :|) With the "Stilt Chips" being as weird as they are, a...

Soz, it's real TTX2 hardware. The JVS card is connected to serial header COM2 as it should be.

    A Freeware Taito TypeX Multigame

Trying to launch, but I get the error message "Could not open COM port: Error 5" I have the JVS serial plugged in COM2, all the connections are solid, but there's also a slim chance it actually boots. I also just updated to 4.7.2 if that impacts anything

    Naomi second JVS board?

The Naomi has a second JVS port (usb port) covered up by a plastic lip. Is there a reason it's hidden like this? Can the Naomi run 2 JVS boards at the same time? Or is this just some design quirk and the second USB port doesn't actually do anything.

    A Freeware Taito TypeX2 Multigame.

Frontend is not booting for me. Selecting them just sends me back to the launcher. Some games launch, but some do the samething Frontend does. What can I do to fix this? Also, can I change what I want to be autobooted from a config file?

Powering a IO Board with Type X's own power supply

I'll try seeing if it can run off the Type X2's USB ports then before I make a more permanent Molex power cable. EDIT: Yes, at least with my Sega Naomi board that only takes 100mA, you can power it off just the Type X motherboard's USB port

Powering a IO Board with Type X's own power supply

Most IO Boards want 12v and 5v power inputs to run. Normally you'd get these from a candy cab's power plugs, but I don't have a candy cab unfortunately. But Molex from the Type X's power supply is a good enough source. I tested this out with a spliced together cable: 12v and 5v JST's to female...
