Which supergun should a person who has never used one get? I saw a Fighting Layer power circuit board on EBay but with my Power Instinct multicade I didn’t build it. Yes I recently found out that you can use an arcade supergun to play games straight from the PCB. But I know it’s a rare power circuit board and I don’t want to damage it and waste all that money that’s why I made an adjacent post asking about Fighting Layer I’ve looked at tutorials, but I’m afraid I may not remember all the steps. Plus with the multicade I don’t have a lot of space. That’s why I was thinking about trading it. That’s the only thing I can think of. Unless I get the PCB and an aluminum case. But it’s just a big risk… any advice or opinions would be appreciated!

Get that and never look back. Also, there is a thread here where the creator and everyone else can help you when you get it.

I actually looked at HAS before! But I think they’re out of stock currently? The pcb uses JAMMA. Thanks for letting me know about the thread.

JAMMA? Never heard of it...
JAMMA is run by representatives from various arcade video game manufacturers, including Bandai Namco, Sega, Taito, Koei Tecmo, Capcom, and Konami among others. Nintendowas also a member of the organization until its departure on February 28, 1989.<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Amusement_Machine_and_Marketing_Association#cite_note-1"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> Nihon Bussan left in 1992 over content issues in their mahjong games.<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap...keting_Association#cite_note-nichibutsu1992-2"><span>[</span>2<span>]</span></a>

It’s a type of arcade board.

There are three high-quality SuperGuns that are generally recommended by folks in these forums:

1) The HAS by @RGB . Even if it's out of stock, it's worth waiting for it to come back into stock or to buy one used - they're excellent.

2) The Axunworks SuperGun Mini by @drfunk2k . After ordering, expect a wait time of 6 - 12 months before it ships.

3) The MiniGun by @Frank_fjs . This is an open source design, so anyone can build one. Take a look at the thread here:

Stay far, far away from pretty much any other SuperGun - especially the ones on AliExpress. They are almost always cheaply made, have intermittent build quality, and have a history of randomly frying the arcade boards, displays and/or controllers that are plugged into them.

I was joking, I'm old and most people here know what you're asking. Just so you know, it's not an arcade board, but rather a wiring standard for Arcade PCBs.

Well, for SuperGuns, I gave you the right answer already, but @ShootTheCore gave you the better right answer.

You're clearly new to all of this, and for that reason the HAS is the way to go. The mini is sweet too, but unless you find a pre-built one for sale, I'd say go the easier route.

The HAS will be for sale again shortly, just give it a little time.

I tried to tell you I was new haha!

I have a HAS 4, HAS V and a Minigun

Go with the HAS like many members recommend

Features that stand out to me with the HAS are:
The button mapping and auto fire modes
Buttons are mapped properly when using Atomiswave

The Minigun is a great Supergun if you have an alternative to map your buttons and you don't plan on running the Atomisave

another thing to note is something a wise man once told me:

"a supergun is only as good as the person who made it AND the person who is using it."

its not just plug n play like an NES or a PlayStation. u still need to make sure you are running the boards at the right voltage, don't plug it in upside down, etc. you can have the finest made supergun in all the land but if you don't use it properly its still got the ability to brick your boards and give u a bad experience.

Funny you should say plug it in the right way. I plugged it in upside down just last week. The smell wasn’t pleasant.

We have all been there before. If anyone says they never have plugged in the jamma harness backwards before they are lying. It happens to the best of us.

Yeah I could see myself missing a step or making an error. I’ll have to take some notes or something and refer back to them.
