Does anyone have a Naomi IO (preferrable the Capcom one, but does have to be - just something with a JAMMA edge is fine) that they're willing to part with for a decent price?
I have a few TD-IO that I have built. Better than a Capcom aa they can power a netdimm setup off the jamma edge and supossedly have 0 lag.

Is there anyone local who can repair Naomi 2 motherboards? Mine only shows a black screen on boot and I’m keen to get it fixed.

The only person I'd say would have the knowledge to correctly diagnose and not blindly poke around would be Ken from irepairsega.

Whether he'd take on the repair, and whether it's worth the risk shipping over is something you/him would have to discuss.

Black Screen/No Boot is like 8-10 different causes from memory, ranging from simple (replace super cap) to unfixable (Popped BGAs), working out the exact cause for each board is where the knowledge is needed.

If it's a new purchase send it back, as it's not worth the headache! If it's something you already had but now stopped working, then possibly worth trying to get fixed given how hard it is to find Naomi 2 over here lately.

I personally sent Ken a bunch of Naomi 2 earlier in the year, most of which had the same issue as yours, and he managed to fix them all.

Collectively, listed issues were fans, super caps, stack connectors, corrosion (in multiple different locations on the boards), open traces, BGAs. (Every board needed multiple of these issues fixed)

I got very luck in that not only did they survive the trip over and back with no popped BGAs, but he was also able to fix them all.

Good luck, hopefully you get a positive outcome!

Edit - I forgot that I did also buy 2 x Naomi 2 in the USA and had the sellers ship to Ken and both were not fixable, so it's a reminder that these boards aren't always able to be saved.

Hey guys,

Just getting back into the arcade scene. Grew up in Perth so no candies here that I really saw. I have a few LAI cabs in really nice condition and a Hankin cocktail as well as a pinball. Like my 80s beatem up’s, so no need for 6 button panels 🤣.

1. Nipple or (Jason)
2. Perth
3. None really, maybe buying stuff of you guys 🤣
4. Have brought a few new astros that are currently in transit or about to be, so anything for them really as I will try and get them back to reasonably stock, and clean.

Cheers

Yes Ken is the best, and really free with information and passing on what he knows. He has gotten me out of a Jam or 2 by pointing me in the right direction. 100% recommend his work.
I never quite know what people mean when they say black screen, so to clarify, if the monitor does not flick on, to me that's not a black screen, that just dead and that could be caused by a range of things many of which I have no interest in touching. However, if the monitor comes on but the screen stays black (which is what i would call a black screen), that means that the Sega Custom and its RAM are working and the SH4 and its RAM are working, which is kind of a Nice place to be for a Naomi 2. This type of black screen typically indicates a problem with the power rail or a fan issue and I am happy to take a look. A look is a look however and if I think I can fix it I will but there is still plenty of stuff with these that while I am happy to attempt on my own equipment I would not want to try on someone else's stuff.

This time next week will be sweating my ass off playing TGM in Mikado .
The worlds a bit different since 2019 :)

Any interest in an Arcade stool project ?

Under the Spotlight red crushed is the little bit worse for wear original grey “ corduroy “ material.

Few photos , but won’t be attending to it for a couple of weeks / get back from Japan

🤙

I was in Tokyo a few months back, it was so good! I was very silly and didn't bring back any 100 yen coins though.

What is the going rate for the stools? I'm getting a few with my cabs and they are 30usd each and in pretty good nick. Should i add more to the order?

They’re around $250 new here after people import them so I’d definitely get more if they’re that cheap.
