If you do open it up. Be very careful of the screws at the base at the feet under the plugs.

Very fragile soft metal and will thread with one wrong turn. Happened to me. Not fun.

OK i am trying to get caught up.

STATUS UPDATE ON ME AND CHINA:
Since 2022 I am under my 3rd quarantine. Each time its 2 weeks in the dark, cause i am a foreignor.
The police put a device on my door that notifies them when it opens.
I am not at home I am in a hospital/hotel that I must pay for without working.......
I am 3 weeks behind in my Masters degree........
Supply chain demand has kept Axun from a lot of orders. He is trying to keep the prices the same. Axunworks could resupply with other companies but that would raise the price of all devices in an already agressive pricing hobby.

listen guys, i am not chinese this shit from this country has me fucked up.
i have applied for my wifes greencard to get out of here, ETA 1 year or more......

thank you for @djsheep and any others that tried to help.

right now there is not much i can do but use a shitty wifi that wont connect to a vpn....
or linger close around a window trying to use 4G mobile

I will take some time now to read all this stuff.......

Please be respectful, as China is not like other countries and there is nothing we can do.

For those that are having issues buying... let me expalin like this

its all politics.
cause Axun uses Shopify some cards are declined on the US side.
So this requires you to email me or Axun and then us talking to out customer service SO BOTH BANKS agree its legit..

Its a China vs USA thing... that is just the facts
Please email me at drfunkenstein2k@gmail.com and i will try to get u in there. sorry guys...... the world is not stable right now... read the news

Big credit to @drfunk2k , who’s already reached out to me directly to try to make sure it all gets sorted.

All looks positive. Considering these are issues that seem to be beyond his or Axun’s control, I have to say the customer service is top notch.

Appreciate you reaching out, and thought it was only right I said so publicly.

@Axun and @drfunk2k ,

Thank you for the perspective although by no means it is necessary.

It is easy for us in other parts of the world to forget the challenges faced elsewhere.

Please take all the time you need, and regard our messages as nothing but the banter of people with disposable time.

Genuinely take care of your health and selves, and we are happy to support in any way.

Thank you for all your efforts and your communications in such times

I am currently answering questions in this order, PMs (AP Forum), emails, forum post.
its the best i can do!

@djsheep my brother, please send me that list again, illl pass it through. i swear to God. Im sorry <3 love you

list of PROBLEM PCBs updated thanks to @kebrank

PCBS WITH KNOW ISSUES ON THE CBOX:
Mortal Kombat 1 (worked fine but seemed far out of spec) @mathewbeall
Mortal Kombat 1 (had the same issue as before with extremely dim screen (almost black) and -6.6v on the -5v line) @djsheep
Killer Instinct 1 (Unknown?) @mathewbeall
USAAF Mustang (reading of 12.7v on the 12v line) @djsheep
Thunder Zone (13.2v on 12v) @djsheep
Chequered Flag (NO SOUND) @kebrank
I’m getting 12.6v - 12.8v on a standard CPS-1 stack / multi and my Outfoxies got 13.7v on the 12v line. That’s enough for me to shelve the CBOX. Same behavior on two units too.

@Axun and @drfunk2k did you get to the bottom of this. I’m unsure if people using these are paying attention to the 12v voltage readings, could owners please report in with more readings?

I’m back on my Sentinel again for the time being until I can get some solid answers.

@mathewbeall did you figure this out as I know you too were having issues.

Hey @djsheep - I didn't, I have two CBOX's with very high 12V readings, so am not using them right now... :( Hoping to hear something back from @axunworks on what would be causing the 12V to be so high, or steps to troubleshoot, etc.

Matt

I don’t have a horse in this race but the reason I don’t check 12v on each pcb is it’s almost universally driving an audio amp, and most amps have operating ranges from like 8v to 18v. Very different from 5v logic, cpu, memory etc. where you only have from ~4.9 to 5.1 tolerance.

LA4705 aka Outfoxies is 9v to 18v tolerant for example. That datasheet actually recommends 13.2v. https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/40140/SANYO/LA4705.html

How are you guys measuring voltages? Tapping with voltmeter or using the Jamma extension with the voltmeter? This is occurring with certain titles or across the board?

@ekorz good info, still just a stark contrast from every other Supergun I have which seems to output a nice steady 12v alongside the 5v, just interested in what’s causing this and also the -5v goes bonkers high too on games that use it like Mortal Kombat.

@hyp36rmax measuring on voltmeter first. Then using a multimeter.

Just thought I’d help out with info I have with boards I’ve used.

I was getting 13.1v while testing Gradius 2 today.

With the CPS2 I play almost every day I'm getting 12.6/12.7 (changes, 12.6 in closeup pic, 12.7 in the next one). Note that I can rarely adjust it to 5.00. Closest I can get is either 4.97 or 5.02. If I have it 5.02, usually the next time I turn it on it is 4.97 (sometimes lower, but rare) and I have to readjust. I wish the voltage adjustment knob was on the front 😅. I honestly don’t know if 12.6/12.7 is okay or not; I just want to input my findings as they come along.

Here’s a few more.

Magical Drop Plus (12.5); 2 different CPS1 (long: 12.7; short dash 12.8, Futari (12.3); MVS (12.3); PGM (12.3), F3 (12.6), System 10 (12.3)

Note: If it doesn’t read 5.00, that means my options were 4.97 or 5.02 while adjusting so I put it on 5.02. Will add CPS3 and Konami GX later when I have time.

Hope this helps documentation.

I think this is an issue by design and looks to be normal (at least with some power supplies).
It would have been nice to get an official response from Axun months ago when I found this issue, but didn’t ask again because when you disagree with somebody or criticize something you are automatically labeled as unfriendly or uncooperative. I hope was somehow helpful with these links.
Thanks,

I just saw that numbers were requested by owners of this supergun so I provided them : )

Looking at the info that has been provided by yourself and @ekorz I think there's probably nothing to worry about.

I'm more concerened honestly about the -5v readings. If anyone has a JJ-CBOX and a game that uses -5v (Mortal Kombat for example), plug it in and you'll quickly turn it right off...
