Do you have your wired and wireless backwards?
Your wireless is running 10.0.X.X right?
Screenshots above are showing the reverse?

Disclaimer, network settings really hurt my head...

Yes all wireless devices are 10.0.0.x

I am trying to access the WiPI from my phone without using hotspot mode. I want to be on any wifi network in my house and be able to access it from my phone.

Once I enter the SSID and pw I can no longer access it and have to reset the pi network settings.

I want to change the pi to 192.168.0.X but no one will tell me how to do that. They just keep telling me to do it. Lol. Plug in a keyboard and connect to a TV? SSH? Netbooter.local setting? interfaces file? Seems like a bunch of methods none of which I’m doing right.

I get the impression he's got the ethernet cable directly between the pi and net dimm, and is trying to access the pi from his phone on his wifi network.

Is this a valid configuration? I don't actually use one of these.
Correct. The only thing connected with an ethernet cable is the Pi to the NetDimm.

Nothing in plugged into my router.

The arcade is on the other side of the house from the router.

I just want to be able to control the WiPi Netbooter via my phone without having to join the WiPi Hotspot each and every time from my phone. I need to be on my home network to power on the arcade from a smart plug, so switching back and forth is a pain.
........

I think if someone can tell me how to change the Pi's address with specific instructions I can fix this. But so far im just being told to set the IP. Is it in any of these sections?

Also ive seen where it says to open dietpi.txt to enable wifi then go to dietpi-wifi.txt to enter wifi credentials. All I can find is WiFi.txt and it is blank

Everything you are doing makes sense and it will really just fall on someone with the network know how to sort you out…

was able to get my WiPi to 192.168.0.1 with a gateway of 192.168.0.1 (I didn’t know what else to put) via diet-pi settings and net dimm to 192.168.0.2.

Net dimm adds successfully

But my wifi address on the WiPi is listed as 192.168.42.1/24 static.

Couldn’t figure out how to set the WiPi wifi to DHCP.

In this case I could connect to 192.168.42.1 and see the WiPi page from my home wifi which is great but it still was in hotspot mode and not technically joined to my router. Making tiny progress though lol.

I want to thank Nam 9 and everyone who dealt with my bs and tried to help me.

I unplugged my extender and renamed my NETGEAR-5G to NETGEAR5G.

Finally connected to the router.

Gonna keep testing but page is now accessible.

Putting how Chunksin and Nam9 assisted me in case it is helpful to others. The following is Chunksins post on the WiPi thread.

OK, here is my breakdown of your current situation:

WiPi uses 2 network configurations, wired for the Naomi side and wireless for connections to the website running on the Pi. By default the ranges are:

Wired: 10.0.0.1
Wireless: 192.168.42.1

This is how it is configured out of the box and will work if you are just using the WiPi-Netbooter wireless SSID. The issue has come when you've added the Pi to your home wifi network which clashes with the wired IP range on the Pi. Most people use a 192.168.0.0/24 or similar IP range for their home network, using a class A 10.x.x.x range is unusual but it can be worked around.

Firstly I would reset your wifi configuration by creating a file called reset.txt in the boot partition then starting up the Pi. Look at the activity lights, it will restart twice and you should then be able to see the WiPi-Netbooter SSID again.

Connect to WiPi-Netbooter and open up the WiPi interface in a browser, go to Setup and Network Configuration. Go to the Wired setup and you'll see it is set to 10.0.0.1, in the form on the page change it to a new static address: 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Apply and the Pi will reboot with the new address.

Reconnect back to WiPi-Netbooter SSID and go back into Setup and Network Configuration to check that the wired interface now has the 192.168.0.1 address. If that has worked you can now join your home wifi network from the wireless configuration screen. Choose the SSID from the drop down and enter your password and apply, the Pi will reboot twice, watch the activity lights and when the Pi is back online you should be able to access it on your home network.

Depending on your router setup you may or may not be able to reach http://netbooter.local - if you can't you can scan your home network for the Pi, I use a mobile app called Fing. If the Pi appears on the list you can connect the IP address rather than the name, in the format http://<ipaddress>.

You have the option to set a static IP address on your Pi for the wireless network so it is easier to find, you need to know what DHCP addresses are given out by your router for this and choose an address that sits outside of that range.

You can now plug your Pi into the Naomi and set up an IP address in the service menu on the Naomi itself, use 192.168.0.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and restart. Then go into the Netdimm Config menu and create a new Sega Naomi netdimm with the matching IP address 192.168.0.2. The entry should turn green if everything is OK and then you start sending games.

following these directions to the tee helped fix everything!

So I think my mistakes were bountiful.

1. I was trying to set the static ip for the WiPi Ethernet thru dietpi-config which requires a gateway for the 192 range and I was guessing on that.

2. My 5ghz and 2ghz NETGEAR router came up with the same SSID for when scanning (even tho ugh they are separate) so I saw the same SSID in the wireless network list twice.

3. The 5ghz NETGEAR SSID had a hyphen in it. I removed the hyphen. Once I did that it seemed like only one option for the NETGEAR SSID came up within the WiPi netbeooter.local settings.

A combo of those mistakes seems to be the culprit.

But if you follow these instructions above for this scenario you will be golden! Thank you Chunksin. You really modernized this arcade experience from the 90s and made my “mini Sega arcade” awesome!

Card and online functionality IIRC. You can turn them off in the game settings.
Got em turned off. Was bugging me lol. Thank you!

Not sure if I already had the newest BIOS with proper bootstrap or not so I got this off eBay and put it in just in case.

White one is the old one.

Not sure if this is the easiest way to check, but just try netbooting any of the Atomiswave titles and then switch out another game.

Those of you with a Sun Power Supply how did you mount everything? I wanted to get the Sun psu on the wooden board here but don’t think it will fit. Do you guys just get bigger wooden boards or put the Sun psu on top of the the other power supply?

You try to power the naomi 2 with the blast psu? It should work without the sun psu. Just gotta have a meter on the pins and dial in the voltage under load.

Naomi2 is power hungry. Net booting definitely requires the sun psu IMHO.
I usually put the sun psu at the bottom of the cab. Naomi goes on the top right of the rear of the wood mount board. Capcom i/o over the rear part of the Naomi 2. It all fits nicely

Some blast city power supplies are weak. I have one that struggles with the net boot even after a cap kit. But I have 3 others that power it with no issues.

I would try and cap kit your power supply first to see if it handles the power fine. If not, SUN power supply it up.

My naomi 2 struggled with netbooting. I found that laying the harness neatly and minimizing the turns moved the voltage. Try moving the harness different ways while the meter is connected to the naomi and see of you noticed voltage fluctuations. I'm talking Iike .4-.7 movements. It will go from 4.6 to 5.0.

So I got some 100 Y coins and was super stoked to test em out. They all fall through the return coin a lot though. Maybe my coin mech was adjusted to take tokens instead of 100 Y coins?
