Blast City / Astro City / Astro City 2 / NNC - Restorations

When cleaning my CRTs I usually wiped some of the grease off not realizing what it was for. Added some grease to anode cap area for the Astro, Astro 2, and Blast Last night.

Still need to do the NNC, Aerto Table, Aero City.

I took apart my CRT discharge tool a while back thinking all my cabs had bleeder circuits so I didn't think I needed it anymore. Pretty sure the Aeros will need to be discharged though because I think they lack bleeders.

Ordered an alligator clip wire because I couldn't locate my old ones.
I just ended up buying a BK-44 hv online (for cheap or just look for a deal). It comes with a voltmeter so you know if theres still remnant voltage remaining/discharge

I was looking at em but couldn’t find for less than $135. Maybe I can find a better deal one day.

Where should I apply this grease on my tube?

Just like this one?

It's like a bloody lightsaber. I'm sure those screwdrivers with some wire and a crocodile clip wrapped around work to discharge a monitor but they just make me uncomfortable.

do any of your tubes need a refresh? If you need to disconnect the anode cap, might as well do other things while the tube is discharged
I don't think any other maintenance is needed right now, but in general that is a good idea

Anyone know the dimensions of the wooden board in an Aero Table? i have tried Aero City, Blast City, Astro City, Astro City 2 and none seem wide enough to fit in the channel without tipping over + most are all too tall (other than the Astro City 2 one I had that is smaller that the AS one)

I know i can measure and cut my own wood but anyone have any info on what that stock Aero Table wooden board for mounting PCBs is like?

Seems like there are top brackets but they are angled so i dont get if thats for securing the top part of the board or what.

I thought maybe the previous owner hammered em down or something I’m not sure though.

I thought they’d be at a 90 degree angle.

I got a reference picture and looks like there are silver beams or brackets that connect to the blue brackets at the top that have been bent. I just don’t understand why they are nearly flush to the cabinet and the screw holes on the bottom of the cabinet are like 4 inches away from where the bracket is.

I guess the bracket protrudes a bit before the channel starts.

Turns out this channel at the bottom that was holding the wooden pcb board was not standard which would explain why none of my wooden boards were the correct thickness to fit in it 😂

Having trouble getting my test and service Aero Table buttons working.

On my Mistercade v1 the service button will open the “credits” menu on mister showing ppl who contributed to the core like Jotego’s supporters

On the Mistercade v2 I mimicked the wire colors and I’m not getting any response from service or test.

I had an extender made as pictured and that seems to plug in correctly.

I’ve loaded up games like SF Alpha and SSF2 Turbo and neither button seems to do anything.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Orange wire to service

Purple wire to test

Plus the grounds.

EDIT: SOLVED mostly

I tried my Mistercade v1 on my Aero Table and the service button opened the credits menu on some cores. So I guess the buttons work I just have some button mapping issue.

Start on my Mistercade v1 is tied to the coin counter and when i connected it to the Aero Table it also registered a credit on the coin counter pretty loudly, which the Mistercade v2 didn't either.

So looks like I have a button \ function mapping issue with the Mistercade v2.

I put the ini in the downloader.ini file to download the Mistercade v2 free mappings that have the coin tied to the start button but that hasn't worked either. So I insert a coin with a joypad or my keyboard until I figure that one out.
