Both systems have an incredible library with lots of nice games. I would never say that only one game is worth in one of them, but that's my opinion.

Why not? It's very cool to see them running. It's sad the punishers last level is broken still after all these years on CPS2, i'm surprised nobody has taken a look.
I guess neocps1 could not check the last level due to the protection but since that was cracked he has not been interested.
The thing is, there's so much others to do and most people with the skill are spending the time on other things....
With all the neo-geo porting madness from totally different systems , i'm surprised these "easier" conversions have not been done by now.
Same with myself, been spending more time on jaleco hardware ports , ZN1 etc .... i was expecting others to have a go at these CPS1 stuff.
Final fight looked good, but the 3 player hack is not needed, a "clean" version of the original would of been better IMO.
If memory serves, and I'm sure you can check if you go way back in the thread, neocps1's interest waned once he started asking to be paid out the bounty. And the collective did not want to pay out for the work as it wasn't a finished product. Which is what the fundraising had been for, a finished product, not a WIP.
I'm also surprised no one's gone back to this even out of curiosity in all these years though.
I can’t agree with this! Having played the 3-player hack with friends, we all agree it is one of the coolest hacks out there. Was much needed for this classic. It’s also nicely put together, from character selection to on-screen health bars, it’s cleanly put together. Also love that they put custom character colors to choose from too.
I love it too and prefer the enhancements, but I still think it would be cool to have a toggle or separate build to play it just like the original.

We did it on 2 linked cabinets: 2 players on 1 cab, 1 player on the other. Everyone played, everyone enjoyed.

Very true but i have 1000's of boards, it would be annoying to tie two cabinets up with one game
I always wanted to do a 4 player NA setup but really they need multi player single cabinet.
If you have a 3/4 player cabinet or shitloads of space it makes more sense...
