CPS2 Fan Replacement

Recently did the Sunon fan replacement. Was an easy drop in. Just had to take the plug off the old fan and attach it to the new one. Works great and doesn't sound like a tie fighter. :thumbsup:

So I bought this but the connector has 3 holes where the original fan has 2. Advice appreciated :-)

I switched to the metal case so different fan now, but i would just connect 2/3 see if the fan turns on if not use the other side and the middle pin again and turn it on again, thats what i did I remember. Lol

Just cut it and solder the old connector to the new fans 12v and ground wire. I think the third wire is used for temperature control fan speed
 
Thx guys. I just plugged in the +12v and gnd and left the temp control unplugged.

Wouldn’t call this fan “silent” but it is eons quieter than the stock fan.

This does take a good push to fit in, it’s a little bigger than stock but definitely not a dealbreaker. It won’t crack the plastic casing or anything. Just needs some persuasion. Great plug and play solution for those who don’t want to replace the connector

Anyone knows the type of connector used for this? I also ordered the same Sunon fans but it came with the wire leads. NOW, Of course it would be trivial to simply splice the cables BUT there's a weird part of me that would like to keep things "clean"

From digging around, it would seem that it's a JST NH Connector?

Any info could be greatly appreciated!

For CPS2? Is it not JST PHR-2?

or are you using it in a NAOMI? sorry I didn't read up far enough. I believe that the NAOMI fan does plug into the filter board onto an NH connector? don't forget to order the pins too...
 
Cheers for this guide. I cleaned my A board today and just decased and installed a fan controller on the original fan. Was going to go more elaborate with a temp sensor, perhaps in future. All seems great so far. It was a jet engine before.
 
Looking to install a fan that doesn't require splicing or soldering (original fan not available/not in my board)
CPS2 will be installed into a cab so I don't necessarily need silent, but anything quieter than the stock fan would be a plus.

I've gone through the thread and seen the suggestions for these:

Papst
Sunnon
Gelid

Would any 60mmx60mmx15mm fan work as long as it uses a 2 pin connector? I just don't want to put any additional stress/voltage discrepancies on the board.

I found a couple on amazon and was wondering if these would work? Any thoughts?

How about crimping? The fan connects to the motherboard using a JST NH connector.

They do . I have some model almost identical and they fit . Just use some tape if it’s a little loose
