I do not have access to anything you can't find in MAME or on emuline (I think you can find the two romhacks on emuline). I did like your idea in the other thread about crowdfunding, but like I said, that stuff works AWESOME in the console community for prototypes, and the vintage PC game community (I remember crowdfunding getting the source code to Chuck Rock at one point), but usually the person who owns that sort of stuff in the arcade community buys it exclusively for the purpose of "I have it and you don't". So finding a seller would not be that easy even if the money were. The question is, is it ALL of them, or is shit still being hoarded?
100% free gerbers/etc on Github, yes.Well, I have to ask, are you releasing to the world (yes, I think you are), but are you going to sell a finished product too?
Thankfully there are bootlegs now! Which it works just dandy on.If this is what I think it is, I hope folks know someone who is good with smd work. Because you won’t want to risk screwing up a donor pcb…
This is most of why I haven't just posted the gerbers for this basic first version.maybe film an install vid so folks know what they’re getting into?
As far as I'm concerned the only real hurdle is the RTC check for the three games that require it (4 if you count a romhack). Which isn't too much of a hurdle really, since the other ones have it working by adding RTC chips onto the multi board (and another lovely gent on here has a very interesting idea how to fool it into thinking there's a chip present but hasn't tested it yet, nor have I), but I think it'd be smarter to patch out the requirement for it right from the rom the same way the manufacturer check for the chip ID has been patched out. Heck if I know how to use ghidra though. But if this is the platform I suspect there are 3 significant hurdles to making a multi on this platform so I'm quite curious how you're resolving those aspects.
Man, shit. I was hoping the repros would get cheaper over time. This is gonna fuck up my wait, big time.If this is what I think it is, I hope folks know someone who is good with smd work. Because you won’t want to risk screwing up a donor pcb…

I would think it would work with a bootleg though, so that’s at least an option I hope. Not that they’re much cheaper either, but at least they’re not originals.
Maybe Mr Chinese dude will just take these gerbers and sell it as a package lol. I’m in favor if it means original boards stay un-fucked and folks get working stuffMan, shit. I was hoping the repros would get cheaper over time. This is gonna fuck up my wait, big time.
That's what I hope as well. Of course I've been waiting on the same deal with the MVS/AES multi and the only person mass making those is right in this thread... lol.Maybe Mr Chinese dude will just take these gerbers and sell it as a package lol. I’m in favor if it means original boards stay un-fucked and folks get working stuff
This ain’t my processor lol. No rtc hax from meTo finish my thought, @twistedsymphony I have a really shoddy wired up set of ZIF sockets on little PCBs when I was testing what games would convert on the bootleg boards and which wouldn't. I turned that into a PCB, just replaced wires with traces. It does work, but none of the RTC games boot, as would be expected. Another gent on here, who I hope will pipe up, has a nicely working similar solution, but the install is even more difficult.
There has GOT to be a reason that they stopped making v3 PCBs. All those chips are still available for sale. My heart is still in hopes that they're working on v4.That's what I hope as well. Of course I've been waiting on the same deal with the MVS/AES multi and the only person mass making those is right in this thread... lol.
I'm hoping so too once it's all done and final version. And if they have gerbers for the boot PCBs it'd be trivial to change the SMD pads into a series of actual pins to make a socket for a daughterboard. Which makes it an easy install for all.Maybe Mr Chinese dude will just take these gerbers and sell it as a package lol. I’m in favor if it means original boards stay un-fucked and folks get working stuff
The prices for those seem to just keep going up. They left the $50 price range in the dust a bit ago. Getting to the point where SNK may start making multicarts :pThat's what I hope as well. Of course I've been waiting on the same deal with the MVS/AES multi and the only person mass making those is right in this thread... lol.
Come on China!
Hopefully, unless they are trying to be like Nintendo in the past and create low supply to keep demand/cost high. That's their bread n butter :pThere has GOT to be a reason that they stopped making v3 PCBs. All those chips are still available for sale. My heart is still in hopes that they're working on v4.
