CV1000D Multi! NOT A BOOT CHAT THREAD - Formerly: A huge project is approaching....

I completely agree but there are limited people who will do this kind of work. Even more limited people who will do it for others, and often those who want the work done don’t want to pay for it
There are a plethora of people doing HDMI installs on consoles, there are thousands of cell phone repair places across the country, nevermind an other sort of electronics repair shops. It's totally doable. It's just solder, and it's really a fairly wide pitch compared to a lot of what people work on now.

and often those who want the work done don’t want to pay for it
Well they probably shouldn't be a grand deep in an arcade game if they don't want to throw $40 at someone to not ruin it.

I don't want to be rude, but I'd really prefer we not keep beating the same horse. If anyone is THAT worried about it, when the time comes, I will happily install a flex cable on their CV1k boot (I don't want to be responsible for shipping around $2-10k PCBs) for nothing, just send it to me. I've done 2 of these (TSOP56s actually) per cart for nearly 140 Vortex carts now (and some twice because the flashrom didn't program right, or what-have-you). Once you learn to do it it isn't hard. It takes about 3 minutes to solder down a 56 pin chip and clean it up. Removal is even faster.

I am very much interested in the progress of this project, if people feel comfortable or pay installers to do the job is unrelated at this point and very common for every console mod / arcade mod. So please let’s not annoy the guys working to the point that they stop 😅

@kasaski can it be a timing thing? The ram check taking longer than it allows while on mame/etc it manages. Sorry for stupid questions 😅

It’s pretty obvious that he’s friend with the guy selling it and is just here to shit on things 😅
I mean, I think the forums have a rule that if a multi exists you can't release another one here (maybe just DS ones?), but @Lemony Vengeance hasn't released or offered anything for sale, has he?

If you have one already done and for sale, post it up brother, I'm game! Does it fully work? Is it on a boot? What's the deal?

This project could only be used IMO in conjuction with a bootleg PCB from Lydz, which has been banned from many places for lying, bootlegging and copying other people's design. He just doesn't care. Do you really want to give more money to this guy? He will take your effort, add it to his bootleg and charge you double. It's a Win for him only.

Thank you!

In our gone time: it has been learned that Pinkswtx (and in turn suicide club because it has to be built on x) won't boot on the D hardware as it sits. b and a revisions will. They boot up entirely differently when viewed in MAME/Ghidra, so whatever changes were made between revisions seem to have done... something. Probably related to preventing the stage 6 crash?

Also my jank boards shipped! And we've been hard at work (mostly kasaki honestly) making those completely irrelevant.
Sorry, slight correction.

The following roms fail to run on cv1000d: pinkswts, pnkswtssc (which is built on the pinkswts rom) and pinkswtsa.

However pinkswtsb and pinkswtsx boot fine. Both of these roms have infinite lives and the stage 6 crash bug still present.

It is 2:30am. I am bound to cross my wires a bit!

Cleaned up the thread. I may have deleted too much or too little, but I did what I could.

As always, I tender this with the utmost courtesy and respect, @Darksoft....

Honestly...for some of us.....a 1000 cave D pcb from Lydz, and a 2-400$ copy of the multi pcb here (whatever it costs to get produced plus rom swaps if needed) is the ONLY way a lot of us folks may ever be able to own CAVE 1000 pcb's of any kind.....it certainly will be for me.

I understand a lot of the community is pay to play....and I've spent more than my share, and put in more than my share of time.

There's no way that I could break 1K for a single game, let alone 2.5-6K. For a Multi, yeah sure....rarely....and even most of those, I've let go of, when a more reasonable option came into focus.

But trying to juggle my LCD cabs between Switch, PS4, and Steam.....and my CRT cabs with a 360......versus just getting to have everything available in one convenient 15khz ready pcb....that's an offer that's really had to pass for someone that does not have the funds to keep up with the big swingers here, myself included.

If Rewrite drops the multi pcb gerbers up for free, and even 40 of us here, get a chance to have access to these, in a way we only dreamed of before, it's a win.

If Rewrite drops them up for free, and Lydz or someone else clones that design, or heck...even improves on it later, its a win for Lydz sure...but it's a win for the folks down the line, who get access to games that they could only play via emulation or port.

The only people its really a potential loss for, are the folks hoarding kits....and while I don't want them to get hurt in the process, my heart's not gonna bleed for them either. The pinball market is taking similar adjustments right now, as more and more people, get access to more and more games, and price corrections are happening there too...and I've been caught in some of that as well, for a loss......it happens.

If anyone else out there, who's more reputable/ethical/whatever than Lydz, wants to run a cave multi from scratch, including base board, for 1-1500K....I'm all ears....and you've got my money....but til then....please don't begrudge us access or potential access to something that many of us have only ever dreamed of getting to own....it's a glass ceiling that's been long due to be shattered, either in this form, or by Mister, or some other 1:1 fpga project.

What @rewrite and @kasaski are doing here is awesome, and beneficial to many members of the community, if it finally bears fruit, and I hope they'll be given the room to cook however they need to, as long as they don't run afoul of the forums rules.
